Slot Pull

on our cruise last September we did 2. We used a $1 machine, everyone put in $15 which gave them 5 pulls. We had so much fun cheering each other on people all over the casino were coming to see. The first time we all won a bit and the second time we lost a little but it was great fun. We had 37 people at $15 each so you know how much went in the machine. It wasn't a money maker but it made for a great time and there was that chance that we could of won a big jackpot. The couple in our group that organized it said they have shared in a couple of big jackpots, one was $6000.00!

We're going to have a slot pull as one of our activities on a sea day. I did one a long time ago but can't remember the ground rules. Help?

We joined in a slot pull on one of out latest cruises, but someone else organized it. However, my advice would be to also work with the Casino manager. After we were finished, the casino manager said we should have consulted with them first, and they would have arranged for some small prizes, etc.

Thanks for the info... I will pass this on to the people in my roll-call who are organizing the slot pull.

I've organized 2 slot pulls - One on Solstice where I approached the Casino Manager who enthusiastically wanted to get involved, helped out, and it was very successful. She even had the cashier handle all the transactions, let us use our seapass to buy in without any minimum, and waived any transaction fees. Additionally, they divided up the funds at the end. It was great!!!

The other was on Millennium a few months later. I approached the Casino manager, and he didn't want to have anything to do with us. It was like night & day.

This is how we worked it -- made it easy for all, including me who collected all the cash.

$15 buy in, and everyone gets 5 pulls with maximum bet of 3 on each pull on a $1 machine.

At the end, we cash out and divide the winnings/losings by the number of players. We kept track of who had the highest pull in the group. That person got all the change. For example, if we divided the proceeds and it came out to $15.75pp, everyone got $15, and the the highest puller got all the change. It worked out well, everyone was happy, and it was great fun for all.

We've done/organized several slot pulls on Royal Caribbean. Note: the one time we asked for assistance from the casino manager, we got nothing/nada/no cooperation at all. No "prizes," no waiving the fee to put it on your Seapass card, no help in dividing up the money. In fact, when we cashed in, they gave us large bills and wouldn't break them down.

It sounds like Celebrity is more cooperative.

What we have done was have $21 buy in. We set a start time and no one was allowed to enter after the first person sat down to take their turn. We collected money in advance from those that wanted to participate but couldn't get there due to a conflict in activities and someone pulled for them. The person with the highest total during their turn go the "change."

Each person got seven pulls on a $1 machine playing $3 at a time. Wheel of Fortune has usually been the choice of machine to play--they like the chance to "spin the wheel." After everyone had a turn, we divided up what was left. So far never come out ahead but never lost more than $5 each either. Most of the time it was around $2 which was well worth the "entertainment" value.

One time, when we didn't organize it, they took a vote after everyone had a turn whether to cash in or keep playing. The majority wanted to keep playing and the result was what you would expect--all the money went to the one-armed bandit. Just passing the money through once was much better in my estimation.
