Star Princess Drydock Details

Isn't the Star going into dry-dock in November for 20+ days? Will it have major changes?

The word on this board is that it is finishing the changes it was originally slated to have (ie Golden Princess window suites, casino relocation, sun deck suites, kiddie area movement, etc) Sounds like in addition its possible it will get the Tea Leaf Library, but some of us would love to see a signiture feature that really sets it apart as the Star, not just the identical sibling of the Golden and the pre-plastic surgery of the Grand. Not sure what that would be however.

Does anyone know what the deal of "Alfredo's" is on the remix of the Grand? Does this venue replace the pizzeria on the lido deck? Think the Star may get this as well?

Princess did say the pizzeria on the Lido deck would remain.:)

The cruise scheduled before the retrofit was thru the Greek Isles...we were booked on it, along with the repositioning Venice to Rio. We had a b2b2b, now we only have the b2b.:( Will see what it is like to sail after a retrofit. All will be well, we hope.

I know it is still 10 months away but is it time to start thinking about the Star Princess Drydock details. The Grand is going into drydock in about three weeks and the details are well know. The next major drydock will be for the Star. She did not have all the planned upgrades completed during her last drydock in 2008 that subsequently made to the Golden and the Caribbean such as moving the Casino to the Promenade Deck and a new Crown Grill on the Fiesta Deck. Will the Star look more like the Grand or the Golden and the CB after her drydock? Will Skywalkers remain? Does anyone know?

where did you find the information about the Star going into drydock in 2011? We're sailing Dec 8 and I can't find anything about it.

now that I wrote it I'll probably find it!:o

Your Dec 8 cruise will be the first one after the Star's 24 day major drydock. Most of the changes during her drydock should be on Fiesta and Promenade deck but I know no details. I started this thread to see if there were any rumors or facts floating around.

I've never heard anything about what changes are being planned, other than speculation by some that they are just going to swap locales for the casino and steakhouse, which hardly seems worth the bother. Anyone have news on this?

The "Crown Grill" on the Star is still in the old Southwestern themed restaurant location. This would add a "real" Crown Grill. Supposedly the seven Window Suites would also be added on Fiesta deck. This was the original plan for the '08 drydock but apparent problems getting workers into the US supposedly made those modifications on Promenade and Fiesta deck impossible during that drydock.

We know the Star pretty well after our extended stay, don't we, Brian? :) Hi to Janet!

Yes we do Susan  We just got back from a great 7 day CA Coastal on the Sapphire :)

Lil and I are trying to decide between a 10-day Panama Canal partial transit on the Island or a 7-day Mexico on the Sapphire (right after drydock). I've never been to any of the ports on the Panama Canal itinerary, so that's appealing--but I also like having an IC, which the Island won't have. Decisions, decisions!

Not sure if the Star is getting an Alfredo's or not, but Alfredo's does not replace the Pizza on the Lido

The Grand has both

After reading a recent horror story of a well needed rennovation of a princess ship's staterooms prior to dry dock, I'm now curious the state of the Star's staterooms? We are booked on the Star in May and I'm hoping she isn't all weathered already? Wasn't she just rennovated? Did they rennovate the rooms during the last dry dock or is that expected with the next one?

We were just on the Star in August and she was in great shape! We had a balcony cabin on the Aloha deck and it was fine. I didn't see any wear and tear anywhere.
