Is this normal on NCL???

Is it just me, or does this post not pass the smell test?

#1 - This poster indicates that they were in a SUITE. Aren't guests in suites escorted directly to their staterooms? If so, an NCL staffer was present when they arrived and would have seen the condition of the stateroom (and been mortified!).

#2 - Suite-level staterooms are usually assigned to the best stewards...unlikely that they would have done such a poor job.

#3 - Buffet? Considering the private dining available to courtyard guests, why would you elect to go to the buffet?

#4 - If there is one area where NCL far outshines the competition it is in suites. Very hard to believe that the service was anywhere near what was claimed.

Something doesn't seem right here....

Excellent points and good catch.

To the OP,

IMHO, your Room steward might have been new to the job. Hopefully, you reported this poor service to the head of housekeeping. He would have the situation rectified.

As others have stated, their experiences, as well as mine, were much different. I have been cruising with NCL since 2002, with positive cruise experiences.

Try another ship such as the Jewel or Pearl. Meanwhile send us a reply.

Barb, "new" room stewards are not assigned to Courtyard Penthouse Suites. Don't expect OP to make a return response. ;)

I have been on 4 Disney cruises (none can compare) &7 NCL's w/2 back to back coming up the first 2 weeks in July & I can tell you all experiences we've had have been different. On the Star (Alaska 2010) 4 of us, 2 being my sis. & her hubby, had issues w/ the food. We politely complained & got to talk w/ the matre'D got priority seating at the main dining room by a window with free champaine. Could not complain about that. Also similar situations w/ other boats. I have found that if you kindly bring it to their attention they will rectify it. They certainly can't if they don't know about it. Give them another try, I did after my first bad experience, and was glad I did. Good Luck.

You make this observation as if it were something new. You've been a member here long enough to know that there are people out there that make this a sport. Read the boards for other lines and they are all almost equally trashed. But' date=' I do believe NCL is the favored target. ;)[/color']

Some people find it necessary to "trash" a cruise line to try to make their favorite line seem better. It doesn't work, but they continue to do it regularly on these boards. The sad part is some people believe the garbage they post !!!!

Very true. And while I think negative experiences do occur and should be shared (what's the point of having a "fans-only" board?), it's usually easy to spot the fakes and the truly "impossible to please."

On my last cruise I can't forget the guy who complained (loudly) that his toast was cold, or the woman in front of me at the buffet line who thought the "sneeze guards" were an inconvenience, or the family of eight that showed up two minutes to showtime and were displeased that they couldn't all sit together in one row.

I'm sure those of you who have been on numerous cruises can recall similar stories, and I'm equally sure that at least some of those discontents have shown up here to publicly air their displeasure.

?i was just on the Epic 2 weeks ago and i joined this site to ask questions and read reviews, if i had believed everything i read i would have cancelled but i didnt and had the time of my life both me and my wife said it was well worth the money, the service was perfect food was good and everything was spotless, not clean "spotless" i am so glad some peoples negative comments didnt deter me from taking this cruise. I personally think some people expect to be the only person being catered to and everything to be 100% about them and if it doesnt go that way than the bashing comes out. This was our first cruise ever and loved every second of it, the only negative thing i can write about the Epic was that we had to get off after 7 days

Well I can’t easily spot the fakes unless they are the obvious 1 time only posters, I am also not an NCL cheerleader. Although I have loved my cruises with them. I’ve only been on 2 cruises but yes I have had small discontents so far that has not majorily impacted my cruise and I am not above pointing out what I see as a problem area. I’ve also experienced an obviously discontented passenger, on our last cruise, that for some reason felt the need to share his experiences with my DH and myself. Fortunately for us he moved on to complain to another passenger about what appeared to be really ridiculous rantings.

But as I stated above the OP has not come back to answer any of the questions posed to them or how the issues were handled .

So whether this is a real scenario or a fake it is neither helpful nor informative to other CC members. I fail to see the significance of the OP’s post with the exception of bashing NCL.

Loved your post!

It just goes to show you that even newbies can read between the lines and remain level-headed when it comes to reviews. So glad you had a great time on the Epic. Can't wait to sail the Epic ourselves.
