beckytravel Posted May 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2011 I originally booked an 1/2 day tour, will I have time to see the highlights? I was thinking a whole day much be to much for the kids (older but...)
CruiserBruce Posted May 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2011 I think a full day would be better. You could easily spend a couple hours just at the Acropolis. So not sure how much of Athens you could see in 4 hours.
marazul Posted May 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2011 Full day by all means. When your kids are back in school and look at their history or art textbooks they will be able to say "I was there!" A half day tour is more likely to be a boring driveby with a lightning visit to the Acropolis. On a full day, you will get out and explore many wonderful places. Athens is worth three days of solid sightseeing. Do spend the full day.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted May 5, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2011 I completely agree with the other two posters. :) There is a lot that's worth seeing in Athens.
chipmaster Posted May 6, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2011 FULL DAY, we did such a tour and that wasn't enough time. Our children were 7, 12 and 14 at the time, had a great time. It was hot, but still worth every extra minute. I originally booked an 1/2 day tour, will I have time to see the highlights? I was thinking a whole day much be to much for the kids (older but...) Hollywood Traveler Posted May 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Thanks, everybody. You've convinced me. Even though I wasn't the OP, I was wondering the same thing. Now I know. Do the full day.
will work to cruise Posted May 11, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2011 We were debating between a half or full day and chose the full day. We did not want to feel too hurried. Just booked two days ago for our June 2012 cruise.
