Question about using credit card points

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

My partner and I are considering taking a cruise this fall. We have enough points to do a seven night Caribbean cruise and have one of us go for free. My question is what happens to the points if we have to cancel before final payment. Thanks in advance for all your help. You are all great. Stewart

When you call BOA to redeem your points, they will send you a certificate that you in turn mail to RC. There is an expiration date on the certificate, I think you have to use it within six months. So my guess is, if you've mailed in your certificate and then cancel, you lose it, unless they can transfer that certificate to another cruise that would fall within the 6 month period.

If that's not right, I'm sure someone will let us know!:D

If you cancel the cruise entirely you will lose that certificate and those points. You will have to keep the same booking number if you can't go on that particular cruise and switch to a different cruise and date. The one free fare will carry over to that new cruise.
