First time cruiser, question about waterproof wallets.

What if you accidentally miss the ship for any reason?

Why would I need a passport to begin with then?

Not to be a smartass because I am a first time cruiser and really don't know,,,

I am careful to always be back way before the time. In the event I did miss the ship, you can contact the consulate in that country to get home without having your passport with you if you really messed up.

If I go to a far place like ruins, I take the cruiseline excursion.

The biggest reason to carry a passport is if you are injured, ill or otherwise find it necessary to fly home from whatever international country your ship is docked at. Not likely to happen, but it could.

This is the waterproof bag that I got and people suggested to me. IT DID NOT WORK OR SEAL.

It has little rubber piece on the inside and they kept coming off. I found it very hard to get it to close properly and seal. Water got into it twice while snorkeling and I only had luck with it once. I wouldn't recommend it at all. I will be finding something else this time.

I only take my drivers license into ports. You only need a photo ID to return to your ship in the ports.

I once took my passport and got it wet, so now I leave it in the safe. License works fine to take.

Thank you.
