Trip Report: Oasis of the Seas 5/14-5/21...tons of pictures

Recommended Posts

We made reservation for Izumi. We read on here to reserve Izumi early as seats are limited but when we went, only about 4 or 5 tables were filled.

We ordered two ishiyaki combos, the beef tenderloin and seafood. It came with soup, sushi roll, vegetable tempura and dessert. I didn't like my seafood hot rock. It tasted bland and thats probably because I didn't know how to use the hot rock and how to season it with seasonings they provided and oh, my seafood stuck on the rock lol.

I'm not sure what this roll is but it was so tasty. The chef just sent it our way.

Our server was the same lady in Royal Caribbean's tv commercial. You all will probably recognize her if you see her. Sorry I can't be specific. I don't know her name or the name of the commercial haha.

After dinner we took our free spin coupons to the casino and claimed our tokens. I am proud to announce that we won...a keychain :D

After the casino we went for a walk around the ship

Day 4 - Falmouth, Jamaica

I've read so many negative things about Jamaica so we opted not to really venture out. This was a chance for us to enjoy the ship while other passengers weren't around. The place is still under construction but there are people selling wood carvings and such. The next time we find ourselves in Falmouth, I think we'd get a day pass from one of the hotels. The people were friendly and were happy to see tourists in the area.

Good Morning mon!

We took the complimentary bus ride to The Shoppes at Rose Hall. There, we bought some souvenirs, tried jamaica's red stripe and had jerk chicken.

Just returned from oasis on Saturday. Seeing your beautiful pix makes me homesick for that gorgeous ship. My pix look horrible compared to yours. You have the best pix I've seen on cruise critic. Royal Caribbean should hire you as their photographer

The bus ride on the way to Rose Hall was so much fun. The driver got all passengers engaged by making us answer yah mon whenever he asked questions. He also narrated during the drive and pointed out Usain Bolt's elementary school and other interesting facts about Jamaica.

Back to the port, we checked out the market and quickly headed back to the ship.

We went to wipe out cafe for some frozen yogurt as it was sweltering hot that day.

Before dinner, we decided to check out the Cupcake Board. So many selections and they all look soooooooo good!

We decided on Oreo. I still regret not trying each of the flavors hahaha.

Thank you everyone!!!! You guys are making me want to post more and more hehe. I guess it pays to lug around a huge camera and two lenses all week long :P

Your pictures continue to be amazing! Did you use a tripod or something else for your night pictures? I still struggle with getting good ones. :o

No tripod used. For this picture, the camera rested on the railing. I bumped ISO all the way up, used fast shutter speed and tried to keep my hand steady while being careful not to drop the camera overboard haha.

Awesome. Sometimes it takes a lot of cruising before you get a shot like this.

It's a trial and error for me. It took me a few tries just to get a lot of these shots. If I had a film camera, I would have probably wasted 100's of rolls of film by now :D

For dinner, we went to Chops. Food here is so good that if it didn't have a cover charge, I'd eat there nightly =P

How were you able to get a cabana? We were only in a jr suite so did not qualify for barefoot beach. I tried to contact the concierge, the diamond program and all bit stand on my head, but sad to say, no luck. Even went to guest services immediately after boarding to put my name on a waiting list! Maybe all of the suite passengers wanted a cabana too. What was your secret?

Here are some pictures from our nightly walks to burn off some of the food we stuffed ourselves with

I believe we watched the comedy show or the love and marriage game show this night but I can't recall exactly...sigh, old age. Some passengers argued at the comedy show and wanted to stand and watch. Save yourself the trouble, go reserve your seats as the place is small and can only fit so many people.

There's no secret. We saw a message on our tv before dinner on day 1 saying there's cabanas available for rent and to call concierge if we're interested. We called and reserved right away.

Can you have more than one appetizer in Chops? I don't know if I could chose between the crab cake and the oysters......they all look FABULOUS!!!!!

Barb

Yes you can. They are quite accommodating. The couple sitting next to us each had 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. I don't know how they were able to finish everything but they did hehe.

Likewise, in the mdr, we spoke to a server that was in charge ofa table that ordered 2-3 appetizers and 2-3 entrees per person. I guess you'll just need to ask nicely.

Day 5 - At Sea

Today's breakfast was special because we were having breakfast with Dreamwork characters. They didn't say who were coming and only told us there'd be three characters visiting.

Menu

_MG_6372.jpg

They gave us chocolate muffins, a couple slices of chocolate loaf, and chocolate-drizzled croissants.

In the afternoon, we went to the theater and watched Megamind on 3D.

First to come out was Shrek, next was Fiona then Puss in Boots.

_MG_6384.jpg

Later that day, we went up to deck 11 to watch the fountain show

_MG_6401.jpg

_MG_6410.jpg

We then headed to the theater and watched Megamind in 3D. If I were to go on the Oasis again, I think I'd watch all the 3D movies they were showing.
