Coral Princess - Forward Cabins - Are they ok

Hi,

We have four forward, starboard, mini-suites with balcony on the Coral. They are the most forward mini-suites on the Caribe deck. Has anyone stayed in this location and what can we expect? They are classified as category AB, but I am worried about being so forward on the ship. This is our first cruise and we are not sure how all the activities, dining, open deck viewing, and spa are located and the distances for getting around. We are taking an Alaska NB cruise from Vancouver. Thanks, and we really appreciate all the answers we have received on cruisecritic.com

Hi, Dee, on a Panama Canal cruise, I had C204, which is a window mini-suite, second cabin back from the front of the ship, and loved it (not least because it was my very first minisuite -- thank you, upgrade fairy)! The location is terrific, because you're very close to the open outside deck all the way forward, which will be good on glacier-viewing day. It's generally locked when at sea, but was unlocked and accessible while we were in port and going through the Canal. And on this ship, the buffet is forward, so you're close to the most convenient set of stairs/lifts to access that. I spent much time in the Wheelhouse, which is also more forward, and it was just a quick walk to the Atrium where Crooners and the dining rooms are. In this class of ship, I think a forward cabin is definitely the most convenient! Friends were in C217/219 and also were very, very pleased with their location.

The only downside is the l-o-n-g walk to the laundry room on this deck, which is all the way aft -- as are the ones on all the decks, so no jumping up or down a deck to save that walk.

To sum up, I'd definitely pick a cabin in this location again. Have fun!

We had room C226 or something close last time we went to Alaska. This time we have room C221. We loved being in the front. It was convenient to run up to the buffet and bring back a snack or hot chocolate. We always went out the doors on our deck to the area in the front of the ship. Great place to watch where we were going. The room was quiet because not much traffic outside the room. If you have more questions, just ask.

IMO you are in a fair location. Not too far from the forward elevator, going down as far as the theater, and up to the horizon, and also open deck viewing on Prom. and Lido decks. To get to the Main Dining Rooms take the Glass Elevator at Emerald deck 8, and you will be at the MDRs, the stores, and Casino. You can't get to the lower decks from the forward elevator.

Yes. you are some distance from the Spa, and Universe Lounge, [big productions here are a Must See].

Now consider you need exercise anyway if you want the Spa, and think how far those persons have to walk from the stern, AND, remember on decks 6 and 7, always stay on the Starboard Side.

Have fun on my favorite ship!:)

Hi, How was the motion of the ship in the cabin? When was the best time to be on the balcony versus the top deck or the front of the ship on the caribe deck?

I have been all the way forward (first cabin from the bow) and all the way aft (full suite directly over the wake) and I found that the all the way forward position had the most movement of any cabin I have sailed in. I must admit we had choppy seas on that cruise so I am sure that was a factor. There was so much movement that I won't sail that far forward again. The movement and noise from waves crashing against the bow woke me up nights.

On the other hand, I have sailed about 10 cabins back from the bow and had no problem on that sailing. A lot of it depends on whether you have calm seas. In my view, you will get more movement all the forward than just about anywhere on the ship.

We had our one and only forward cabin on the Coral for our Panama Canal cruise. I was amazed to find that the AA mini suites were forward instead of mid ship!

But we loved the location and the ship and had no issues at all.

Enjoy your cruise!

Hi MickeyandLV,

We have cabin C226 for our upcoming Panama Canal cruise in September. We've heard that the mini-suite balconies on Caribe deck are larger than on other decks and was wondering if you knew the size? Also, do you remember if there's a door out on the balconies that opens between C226 and C228?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!!

Agree! The forward cabins on Coral and Island are good and the most convenient locations! :)

Trudy, if you haven't already seen it, check out this website, which has very detailed info on the balcony size/coverings for the Coral/Island:

http://mysite.verizon.net/res76zxu/princessbalconies/index.html

Be sure to explore all the pages; there are some great photos and you may even find a photo of your balcony.

Yes, to your second question, I believe there are doors in the balcony divider between those two cabins.
