Embarkation lunch on the Emerald?

bakery

Recommended Posts

Our family will be boarding the Emerald Princess in Copenhagen on August 9. Apparently, we can board the ship as early as 1 pm. Will there be lunch served that day, or should we eat before we board?

And while I'm asking, can we eat breakfast before disembarking on the final day? We're staying an extra day in Copenhagen and will be in no hurry.

Thanks for your help!

Lunch will be available in the Horizon Court. Lunch should be served in one of the dining rooms until 1:30. If you board at 1:00, you may not have time to drop things off in your cabin and make your way to the dining room before closing time.

You may be able to board the ship earlier than 1 pm. You might want to ask those who have recently taken the cruise what time embarkation actually began.

You will definitely be able to enjoy breakfast on board before disembarkation. Take a look at the disembarkation information to see which dining room will be serving breakfast as it is not unusual for a different dining room to be used that last morning - frequently the fixed seating one.

Embarkation day lunch is generally served in DiVinci's from 12 noon to 1:30 pm. As this is designed for B2Bers, they will not let anyone in after 1:30 pm but will not turn anyone away between 12 to 1:30. You may be aware that in-ship greeters, when you arrive, will direct you to Horrizon court and claim that that is the only place to eat lunch. Not so, as we always go to DiVinci's , or the other in-kind restraurants when sailing Princess.

You should be able to board at 11:00am, or slightly thereafter. Depends on the time it takes to clear previous pax through customs. Last off in Europe, as well as FL, is generally 10:00am.

Sit down leisurely breakfast in the dining room is always available until 8:00am. They will close the doors at 8, but once in at 7:59, you can stay till 9:30am. Service always seems slower on the last morning, but what the heck, who's in a hurry to disembark?

Boarding is rarely before 11:30 AM, anywhere. Embarkation out of FLL started just before noon on a recent cruise and that is typical.

Hi there, I'm just back from a fantastic cruise on board the Emerald Princess. Boarding did not commence until 11.45p.m. and I had arrived an hour or so earlier. Once boarding actually began we found the speed of the process really quite impressive. We then headed straight up to the Horizon Court (deck 15) and found a lovely buffet waiting for us. We found that we returned to the Horizon or Caribe Cafe time and time again because the food up there was plentiful, delicious and basically the same as you would have to sit around waiting for if one of the dining rooms had been chosen. The other advantage of dining on deck 15 was that we could eat out in the open air near the terrace pool right at the back of the ship. A very pleasant experience time and time again.

On the return an excellent breakfast was available until 9a.m. up in the Horizon Court but it was a bit congested on departure day. We had a late flight home and so received a complimentary Copenhagen city tour which was much appreciated.

Did Princess offer this complementary Copenhagen tour? If so, how did you arrange it?

Poster is from England and likely had a package from Princess which included flights and transfers to/from airport. If there is a long time until flight time, this package will often include a local tour.

If we are unlaucky to miss lunch due to late boarding, what are our options for dining after this, and what time will the next meal commence it's service?

Buffet open in the afternoon, MDR will open for dinner around 6:00.

Embarkation lunch on Princess IS NOT designed only for B2B cruisers and is advertised by Princess for everyone, that said all ships will try to direct you to the buffet and many will openly lie to you that the buffet is the only place open for lunch. Be persistant and demand to eat in the dining room if you are directed elsewhere and you will get in. Its unfortunate that this and a few other Princess policies are openly defied on the ships yet Princess chooses to ignore it. Personally, any employee of mine who knowingly disregards my policies or lies to my customers becomes an ex-employee but I guess thats not how Princess chooses to handle breeches of customer service from their employees.

We were just on this cruise, just to clarify re breakfast they do not close the main dining room doors at 8am. We got there around 8.10 and no problem, and people came in after us. I seem to recall they do close at 9.30. We had clearly missed the rush, many of the groups had disembarked or were to have met by then, and the dining room was pretty empty and service very fast.

They do not provide room service breakfast on disembarkation day btw.

The Horizon Court Buffet on deck 15 will be serving all day. In addition also on deck 15 the Pizza and Ice Cream Bar will be serving pizza and the Trident Grill will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and the sort. Also check out the International Cafe on deck 5. The problem will be not having food to eat, but having too many options  Dinner in the Dining Rooms will start at 5:30 or 6:00 depending upon your dining choice (Traditional vs Anytime). Check you patter for details. There should also be a dining guide in your cabin. Enjoy your cruise. We will be on the Emerald next year.
