dcd34 Posted March 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Can you order, for instance, a 2nd steak, if you are very hungry at the surcharge restaurants? Or a 2nd desert?
smeyer418 Posted March 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2005 yes on the desserts...not sure on the steak... the stafftends to be very accomodating.
Brad1185 Posted March 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2005 I have seen on some of the surcharge menus a $2 charge for any seconds. Enjoy
F5Loar Posted March 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Good question but could you hold 2? These portions are bigger than the main DR. I know NCL charges an extra $5 if you get the Surf & Turf so I would imagine they would charge you something if you ordered two Filets of the regular size which I recall was a hefty 10oz. I know for sure Carnival will not let you order two entres. If you do it's a double charge. If you eat all the appetizers, soups, salads and desert I would think a 2nd steak would be far from your mind and stomach. I was torn between which desert to order and they insisted I get both so I did and I could hardly walk out of there. It's a lot of eats for $15 at the Bistro. ron46936 Posted March 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Of course you could zip over to a non-surcharge restaurant for some additional food or maybe two of them. Maybe zip isn't the right word.
vivianbstrd Posted March 23, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2005 I am a vegetarian, but the rest of my group is not. My group is interested in dining in the specialty restaurants, but I am concerned that there won't be any choices for me. I know that the main dining rooms have a vegetarian option, but how does it work with the other restaurants.
davy jones Posted March 23, 2005 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2005 DW and I shared a second chocolate fondue in LeBistro. It was too good. I don't know about entrees.
F5Loar Posted March 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Order 2 salads! I don't recall any vegie entres in the Bistro. However you could check with the manager there to see if they could prepare a special vegi dish for you that night. It's their job to please you and no harm in asking. They always ask in the main DR if you need speical diet needs to ask for it.
diggerhawk Posted March 23, 2005 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2005 The post above is wrong. I have crusied Carnival multiple times and you can get a 2nd or 3rd entree if you like. We took my son and his friends for Graduation and every night they all ordered 2 entrees as well as 2 appetizers and 3 desserts. No extra charge ever. snowmo Posted March 24, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 24, 2005 You can eat all 5 entrees in the main restaurants, but NOT in the fee ones.
shoreguy Posted March 24, 2005 #12 Share Posted March 24, 2005 You can eat all 5 entrees in the main restaurants, but NOT in the fee ones. You can eat five dinners in five different restaurants on the Dawn :D I never had a problem getting a second of anything in the Bistro.

ron46936 Posted March 24, 2005 #14 Share Posted March 24, 2005 You may eat dinner in all five dining rooms. Not many people can though. Just wondering. Has anyone actually tried eating in all the free dining rooms in the same evening?

Has anyone actually tried eating in all the free dining rooms in the same evening? You are correct. I know I may but could not. I once put together a post outlining extreme dining on the Dawn starting with the poolside BBQ, Tapis in Salsa, 5:30 Impressions, 6:30 Bistro, 8:00 in Venetian, 9:00 at Agua, 9:45for a lobster in Cagneys, 11:00 Blue lagooon for fish and chips, Casino for midnight sandwitches, and back to the room for pizza.

I know that the main dining rooms have a vegetarian option, but how does it work with the other restaurants. 'Le Bistro' has a vegetarian entrée which I have had, and it's actually quite good. The Asian specialty restaurant ('Ginza' on the Star) also has vegetarian offerings. However, I don't recall seeing a vegetarian option on the menu at Cagney's. When a vegetarian entrée is unavailable, sometimes you can construct a meal using vegetarian appetizers, salad, soup, and so forth.

F5Loar Posted March 24, 2005 #18 Share Posted March 24, 2005 Freestyle cruising does allow you to eat where you want, when you want and as often as you want! I have done the mainDR twice in one night when they had oyster rockefellers and lobster. I have eaten twice again by eating early at the main DR and then a last reservation late at the Bistro. Why give up the main DR when it's so good just because you decide to eat elsewhere that night? Enjoy both, you're on vacation and the main DR is already paid for. There is nothing worse then finding out the next night after you ate somewhere else that you missed something you had longed for in the mainDR. nlt46 Posted March 25, 2005 #19 Share Posted March 25, 2005 I have not asked for seconds at LeBistro, but I do know for a fact that Carnivals' specialty restaurants charge for seconds. We have gone to several and I wanted to try... not eat... oh sure.... now you've found me out.... yes, eat... 2 desserts. They do not allow that without extra charge. Now that is just at the specialty restaurants... not the main dining rooms where I have had several different dessert to "try." Nancy

HotlantaCruiser Posted March 27, 2005 #21 Share Posted March 27, 2005 I am a vegetarian, but the rest of my group is not. My group is interested in dining in the specialty restaurants, but I am concerned that there won't be any choices for me. I know that the main dining rooms have a vegetarian option, but how does it work with the other restaurants. I recently did the Star and met a Vegan Family. They worked with the maitre d' ahead of time and had wonderful dishes in almost all of the restaurants. I know that they scheduled their meals in advance, so as to allow proper planning and prep time for the kitchens. There are "vegetarian" offerings in almost all of the restaurants (honestly don't know about Cagney's though), including Le Bistro. I don't know how strict you are, but I know that family received a great response from the NCL staff who bent over backward to accomodate them. However, I must stress that they did their homework in advance, contacted NCL prior to the cruise, etc. They didn't just waltz in and demand full blown vegan preparation. Good Luck!
