does ship close? :)

Recommended Posts

We will be on Splendor in August and we stay overnight in Venice, aboard ship.

Does anyone know if the ship "closes" at night, is there a curfew that we have to be back on board ship by? as I would like to see some of Venice in the evening.

Yep, you can stay out as late as you want, but the shuttle running between St. Marks Square and the ship will not run all night. I don´t know about the waterbus and their schedule, as I took the last shuttle boat. You don´t want to take a water taxi - $$$

Thank you all, thats great.

Yes I have been looking at when the water shuttles stop in the evening, have any of you used the Alilaguna boats that operate to the cruise port?

I know they are less frequent than the vapporettos but at least they take you right into the cruise port.

I'm just not sure which is the best way for us to travel vapporettos through the grand canal and very frequent or Alilaguna line from port to St Marco Sq but less stops and longer waiting between boats.

I'd at least go ship to St Marks by vaporetto.......neat way to travel and I love the

beautiful green waterof the Grand Canal and looking at the buildings and bridges. I've

never been any other way except once a very expensive water taxi...

Yes we did that 2 years ago, fantastic way to arrive St Marks Sq and so easy too! It works very similar to London underground, chose your line/direction and go, except on water! and I'm really looking forward to returning!

We are there overnight because we fly in on the 15th arrive around mid-day and sail out from Venice on the 16th in the afternoon on Splendor for 11 nights, can't wait! First time with RCL done Ocean Village before and loved it-but sadly they've moved on so trying RCL as we love the cruising, visiting different places most days-unpacking once as they say! :)

Thank You Liz,

just Googled the "N" route and found this on the vapporetto site, although the timetable is not easy to understand-but thanks again to everyone for their input-I can't imagine I will be up passed midnight as I will have been up early that morning to fly into Venice to join the ship!
