Dawn - Balconies on Decks 9 & 10

Is there a size difference for the balconies on decks 9 & 10? Are the balconies all open, half-covered or covered?

I believe that all the balcony cabins are the same size as are the balconies themselves. They are fully covered.

 

However, the aft-facing balcony cabins do have larger balconies that are not fully covered, but do cost more.

I can only speak to the aft (stern) balconies and they are larger than the balconies on the port and starboard sides (non suite categories). You should also know the aft balconies on 10 are larger than the aft balconies on 9.

I think that I was wrong here about the aft balconies....they seem from pictures to be the same as the mid ship balconies and they are covered.

the size of the aft balconies will vary with the deck. The largest balconies are on deck 10.

Here's a link to a few pics of the Dawn. Deck 9 and 10 balconies, side, not rear, look the same to me. Deck 11 has bigger balconies because I believe they are all mini suites.

About the size of aft (stern) balconies.

I do not want to contradict anybody, but the Dawn does not have Deck 11 aft balconies. The balconies on Decks 8, 9 and 10 seem to be identical, cabin category to cabin category.

 

On the Jewel and Gem the balconies on Deck 10 are indeed larger. Looking straight down from the Great Outdoors, one can see about 1.5 ft of Deck 10's balcony. Deck 11's balcony is not visible. So, if anything falls down from the buffet, it lands on a Deck 10 balcony. Someone above us last week apparently was trying to feed the gulls in Nassau. Some of the bread pieces landed on our balcony on Deck 10.

I'm not sure any previous poster mentioned deck 11 balconies as being aft and deck 10 balconies, on the Dawn, are indeed deeper (bigger) compared to the same cabins on 8 & 9.

I believe that the two largest balcony cabins are 10230 and 10730 stern location. We will be staying in 10230 in February 2012.
