oceancruiser1 Posted September 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2011 I am wondering if anyone knows what time Carnival from Miami starts disembarking? Their website says that the earliest flight you can book home is 11:30AM but I can get a much cheaper flight at 11:00AM. It's only 1/2 hr and I'm wondering if I would really miss the flight for only a 1/2 hr difference. Does anyone have any experience with this before. The port is so close to the airport in Miami, I'm tempted to risk it.... any insight would be appreciated. Thanks
Twickenham Posted September 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Disembarkation is usually ship-specific (i.e., when does your particular ship get into port?). The issue for you in that your Canadian, and presumably flying back to a Canadian gateway. As this becomes an international flight, you need to be at the airport 2 hours ahead of your flight. Now, I've never actually flown back home out of MIA, but I have from FLL, and I can tell you that last time it took us over 2 hours just to check in with Air Canada! All this to say that no, I would not be comfortable with an 11am flight. Now, however, if you're flying to a US gateway, or have a connection in the US, you don't have to be at the airport quite as early, so may be able to make the flight. But you have to consider what your options are if you miss the flight? Even if there are later flights, chances are that they're already full. Are you prepared to be re-routed, delayed, even have to leave the next day? In short, is the reward good enough to take the risk?
oceancruiser1 Posted September 2, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Thanks for your insights.... the ship is supposed to arrive at 8:00AM - the Carnival Valor...maybe that is cutting it a bit too close :(
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 2, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2011 I wouldn't take the chance. Ship could arrive late or there can be a delay getting the ship cleared or getting through customs. I would take a later flight. Keith
