Benjamin1981 Posted September 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2011 Hello All, We are on cruise A124A - TA from Southampton and we wondered if it was worth while taking a pair? Will be able to see anything from our balcony? Thanks in advance, Ben
cruiseluvva Posted September 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2011 Hello All, We are on cruise A124A - TA from Southampton and we wondered if it was worth while taking a pair? Will be able to see anything from our balcony? Thanks in advance, Ben Definitely. On TAs we have seen whales, dolphins, porpoises, turtles, flying fish, HUGE fish - I mean shark size - and numerous birds. WE spend hours looking through ours. u2cruiser Posted September 3, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2011 Hello All, We are on cruise A124A - TA from Southampton and we wondered if it was worth while taking a pair? Will be able to see anything from our balcony? Thanks in advance, Ben Definitely take them Ben. We had a whale right alongside on the last TA from Fort Lauderdale to Rome. Often, the Captain will announce when there's something to see. :)

davecttr Posted September 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2011 Thanks guys thats great. Will definitely invest in a par then? Now to find which ones to get? Can't wait to see dolphins etc!! Fingers Crossed. Ben I started with a pair of 8x40 and then invested in a pair of 8x25 which are a lot smaller and lighter but fine for daytime viewing. On my last cruise i took a 10x25 monocular which was very light and fitted in my top pocket. however I was not totally comfortable with it so I am back to the 8x25 binoculars. Somerset Cruiser Posted September 5, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2011 We were docked in Curacao a few years ago and decided to purchase a nice pair of binoculars. When we returned to Oceana we found our Portnus gift, for reacing bronze, waiting in our cabin. You guessed it a pair of Binoculars. The gifts weren't bad back then were they, 2005 or 6 in think. Catherine Janaway Posted September 6, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2011 I've just dug mine out - I bought them from Amazon a couple of years ago. 10 x 25 so hopefully they'll do the trick! I LOVE whales and dolphins and would love to see them from the balcony!
Freecall Posted September 7, 2011 #11 Share Posted September 7, 2011 We always take ours. Sometimes they sit for days unused but then something pops it's head up. I would never be without them.
