houch Posted September 4, 2011 #26 Share Posted September 4, 2011 Interesting. Two weeks ago the very expensive mattress at our condo became such a nightmare I needed my DD to help me move back to the house and drive me to the Doctor who diagnosed sciatica. Next week I go to a pain specialist. It is good to know prescription meds can hold down the pain.I have an adjustible bed in my home and changing positions often and using the vibrator helps a lot. FYI, some friendly advice. Be careful of the pain meds. Many prescription pain meds given out today are very addictive.
houch Posted September 4, 2011 #27 Share Posted September 4, 2011 Never had any problem sleeping on Princess beds even though My mattress at home is a soft down replica, pillow top. Used to always have a firm mattress until frequent backaches in the morming. After change to a soft one, no more backaches!
rockymo Posted September 4, 2011 #28 Share Posted September 4, 2011 I always slept better on a Princess cruise than I did in any hotel, but once got an egg crate topper just to see what the fuss was. Was not able to detect any difference. Between the bed, fresh air and the rolling of the ship I have a heavenly sleep.
satxdiver Posted September 4, 2011 #29 Share Posted September 4, 2011 I have found the beds quite comfortable as is. I do like a harder bed so I am quite happy with the beds.
emmtee Posted September 9, 2011 #30 Share Posted September 9, 2011 My bed was on the hard side, but not unbearably so. What I did find unbearable was the room temp. I suddenly understood why people here on CC request top sheets. I never would have thought to request one if I hadn't been reading about it here, so "Thanks, everyone!" :) It was much better being able to kick off the duvet and just sleep under the sheet. Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted September 9, 2011 #31 Share Posted September 9, 2011 We used to ask for them (because we thought we should, after reading here), but we no longer do. We do better without them. But then, we do like firm mattresses. At least I do. DH is retired Army, and can sleep anywhere, anytime.
hubofhockey Posted September 9, 2011 #32 Share Posted September 9, 2011 I consider myself pretty smart but am not sure why there is so much angst about getting an egg crate topper for your cabin. Does having one make a huge difference in the bed? I have been reading boards for awhile and everyone seems pretty adamant about having one. :)Just curious... sailing on the Grand in Feb. I love a firm mattress and sleep like a baby on Princess cruises. I am not sure if there is a vocal majority or minority who have a problem with the beds.
