tennisobo Posted October 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2011 I thought I could bid for hotels at Hotwire. Their online chat person said I could not. Is Priceline really the only place I can bid for a hotel??
monicajay Posted October 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2011 I thought I could bid for hotels at Hotwire. Their online chat person said I could not. Is Priceline really the only place I can bid for a hotel?? No bidding at Hotwire. They give you a low price without telling you the name of the hotel. Just a few icons so you know what is offered. Some of the reasons Hotwire is good: You can be sure to get a room with bedding for 4 You can choose a hotel that is on the beach ( when available) You can know if breakfast is included You can know if airport shuttle is included You can often determine the hotel in advance because of icons I use both Hotwire and Priceline and choose according to needs and destination. Good luck either way!
Rare Lois R Posted October 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2011 Hi,:) nope, there is no bidding with Hotwire...the price is listed but you don't find out the hotel until after you make the purchase. Bidding is done only through Priceline. I have also used both sites.

eandj Posted October 18, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2011 I have found that I can get the rooms for a little less on PL than offered on Hotwire. HOWEVER... in some cases, I DO want more control of where I will be staying. Something you can narrow down on Hotwire by using the amenitites, stars and location and comparing to the hotel lists on betterbidding.com. If you need help, come on back. Availibility and pricing varies tremendously depending on vacancy rate for the date you need.
leonardofan Posted October 18, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2011 Now that Priceline owns booking.com, they are adding more US listings-- Booking.com has the virtue that you know specifically what hotel you are reserving.
