NoName Posted October 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2011 One of my main complaints on both Carnival, NCL , Costa and MSC was that they closed the pools and hot tubs very early. From reading tons of EOS reviews, it seems that the hot tubs are open late? How late? Also, what times do they generally close down the pools? I am very excited to be able to finally go to the very front of a ship. On every other cruise I have been on, this area has been reserved for the crew only. Are there certain times this area is open? Is it ever available when you are sailing? (We are sailing on the explorer if this makes a difference) Is the mini-golf open certain hours? If we want to go to breakfast and lunch in the main dining rooms, but we want a private table, is this easily accommodated? Can you go to the main dining room for dinner and request your meal "to go"? In the casino, do you put money in the slot machines, or do you have to load your money on a players card? When you "win" do you get a ticket, or do the slots pay out coins? I have so many questions, but I am drawing a blank now. I am sure I will ask more later. Thanks for your help. megr1125 Posted October 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2011 One of my main complaints on both Carnival, NCL , Costa and MSC was that they closed the pools and hot tubs very early. From reading tons of EOS reviews, it seems that the hot tubs are open late? How late? Also, what times do they generally close down the pools? IIRC at least 1 hot tub is open 24/7--and maybe the same for the pools but i never swim late I am very excited to be able to finally go to the very front of a ship. On every other cruise I have been on, this area has been reserved for the crew only. Are there certain times this area is open? Is it ever available when you are sailing? (We are sailing on the explorer if this makes a difference) yes you can go up there...if the weather is bad they will close it off Is the mini-golf open certain hours? i think it is open all the time If we want to go to breakfast and lunch in the main dining rooms, but we want a private table, is this easily accommodated? Can you go to the main dining room for dinner and request your meal "to go"? yes you can eat alone, but you might have to wait and they prefer to have tables that are full, though i haven't really had a problem. as for the take-out question...i never did that...not to say it couldn't be done...what i DID do though was when my mom wasn't able to go to dinner due to her illness, i would order her meal as i left the MDR and then Room Service brought it up for us...so In the casino, do you put money in the slot machines, or do you have to load your money on a players card? When you "win" do you get a ticket, or do the slots pay out coins? money...and money....(unless they've changed in the last year...but IIRC when i was touring in august, they looked to be non-paper-spitting machines! I have so many questions, but I am drawing a blank now. I am sure I will ask more later. Thanks for your help. Kim see above..and check out the ALL THINGS EXPLORER thread here on the RC board.. satxdiver Posted October 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2011 The swimming pools are closed at nights. I have used a hot tub in the adult area in the wee hours without any problem. I participated (actually watched my partner participate) in a group slot pull two years ago and they had to take their winnings to the cashier to get money in the form of room credits. The games such as miniature golf and shuffleboard are closed at night in the sense they lock up the clubs, etc. The area though is open. All of the ships except the Freedom and Oasis class have salt water pools. The Freedom and Oasis class ships have fresh water pools. Be advised. Langley Cruisers Posted October 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2011 The swimming pools are closed at nights. Yep - way too easy for someone to get stupid drunk and fall in. I'm glad they're closed at night.
rummenroman Posted October 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2011 I have seen one of the pools on most ships I have been on open 24 hours. The casino has both traditional machines where money is what is used, and the new machines where there is no "cash" that comes out of the machine, in that case you get a "ticket" that is used in other machines, or can be traded for cash at the cashier. littledaisychain Posted October 23, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2011 I've got a newbie question - do they cabins have fridges or not? Specifically, on Radiance?
jackretired Posted October 23, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 23, 2011 I've got a newbie question - do they cabins have fridges or not? Specifically, on Radiance? Not sure about the Radiance, but generally yes they do. But they are small and not very cold. And they are full of mini-bar drinks ($). Ask your cabin attendant for ice. cb at sea Posted October 23, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2011 The fridges are "dorm-cubes"...if it's not cooling well, try opening the cabinet door (they are usually in a cabinet)...and the airflow helps them function better!
