Upgrade Fairy? Not

I have an S1 (6146) on Summit for this Sat. Celebrity called me today and asked if I wanted an upgrade to a RS ---- for $800 a person! I appreciate the need to up sell, but I think that the price difference wasn't much more than that when I booked.

 

Is this a common occurrence?

Remember they are never trying to do you a favor. They want to fill a higher priced room so that they can more easily sell a lower priced one. A counter offer might have been in order. Everything is potentially negotiable.
