Nancy send over all the Seabass you have on the Odyssey!

We have had nothing but Nigerian Shrimp on the Legend EVERY NIGHT they open the Sky Grill for Dinner for the past 38 days!:(

Not fair!!!! But look where you are cruising. That seems to make a difference. We are suppose to have it after three days on ship. It's four days and no nigerian shrimp yet. We are having Tamarind glazed tonight plus BBQ dinner there.

I'm going to have pan seared halibut in main dining room tonight. You are right . Since so far the pizza is just average, I'm saving calories too. It was not thin on the Quest in November but thinner than this and i think Jerry may have been on vacation. He was on the Sojourn a year ago or his clone was because i pigged out on it!!

Seabourntraveller -Oh dear my heart bleeds for you :p:D;)! They were my very favourite of all the wonderful things we had to eat on the Quest! :D

Hi RedheadedNancy - we met very briefly on the Quest TA - in the lift I seem to remember! LOL! Glad to know you're enjoying your trip. Think a few of the Quest TA fellow guests are with you on this voyage - except we two!! Sounds like you're having fun! Enjoying your posts as Miss M says, they certainly brighten up the day especially when it's -3C and very, very cold - you'd hate it waaaay too cold for you! LOL! But we are cosy inside what with the log fire and usually a glass or two of something to give us inner warmth - sounds a bit like life on Seabourn (minus the log fire!!). Have a great trip and please let us know how your Sydney visit goes as we're off to Australia later this year to celebrate "the old fellas" big birthday! Have a great cruise.

redheadednancy, Thanks so much for posting. Your posts about the lack of Nigerian Shrimp goes to show the differences that there can be between cruises. On our cruise, not only were they offered at The Patio Grill but they were also on the Surf & Turf dinner menu in The Colonnade and, sometimes, served at lunch. I wonder if they had difficulty with provisions before your cruise or if they don't import them to the USA?

We are all enjoying these marvelous and interesting Seabourn voyage logs ~~thank you again! Our CC board has become so much fun!

Fairbourne, you certainly can have a 'log burning fire on a Seabourn ship!! YES.....I did! Dec. before last I was aboard the Spirit (Caribbean) and had been totally surprised by an upgrade to Suite 05~ I had been planing a Christmas party for both Staff and Guests (reason for the upgrade, I'm sure) for several months. Ex. Housekeeper came, we decorated all the rooms ~I had taken a live "crackling fire" television CD ~we popped it in the living room flat screen TV! VOILA! A fire for my festive cocktail party ~I hung small red Christmas stockings from ourfireplace ~~theme for the party was, "Oh Come All 'Ye Thirsty! And Lordy, seems about 70 Sailor's were thirsty that evening! I was amused as even the Ex. Chef, Maitre'D came for a glass of champagne, along with most of the Bridge Officers, and of course, many of my Sailor shipmates ~~the funniest was our Captain ~I presented "him" with a flashing light Santa hat ~he was so proud of "himself", looking so spiffy, he stayed in the guest powder room, admiring "himself" in the mirror, half the evening! Guess we're all children at heart during the Christmas holidays ~:D Sooo, if you would like a FIREplace in your ships suite, simply order a "TV cracking fire CD!" Comes with sound, too! Good excuse to host a fun suite party, too!

Weather in West Texas today is to be 70 ~~but tonight a cold front arrives from Colorada ~~rain and snow, predicted!

Wish I was aboard a Seabourn ship!

You're a hoot Miss M - I'm definitely going to be sure to book us on one of your next cruises! LOL! I'm sure redheadednancy won't be needing a log fire on this trip - just to keep us on topic hahaha! But I'm equally sure she'll have lots of inner warmth!

Wonder how the champagne is RHN? Well-chilled? Wish I was on a Seabourn ship ....... Have you discovered your favourite wines? And most importantly - any Nigerian Shrimp yet???:D

Nancy

As Captain Dexter, at times, host his deck "Frog Races" (sea day) if you're interested, you might ask him if he brought the wooden frogs.

He introduced the races to us on a TA a few years ago ~tons of fun!

His talented Deck Boy's made them aboard ~wooden, then painted them ~

Would be a fun event for you and those Sailor's that would enjoy a "Frog Race" contest ~:D (DO enter and race! You can win!! A special Seabourn prize ~probably won't be a 7 day free cruise, though)

Miss Martha, Nick Hale says he has lots of Martha stories anytime I want to hear him. We had a virtuoso cocktail party before dinner last night! A very nice group overall on this trip. First leg is to Auckland, I think about 21 days and then two weeks to Sydney from there. We are not on the return leg Sydney to LAX. We will stay in Sydney for a week and then go home and go to Florida. No cold weather for us!:) Of course no children. The weather is warm but cloudy. We haven't had a lot of sun at all. Captain says it was rainy a lot in the islands but that it has cleared up at the moment and should be okay when we arrive Nuku Hiva Jan 12.

We spent yesterday going over excursions and trying to decide. I got my comment sheet to put down what would make trip better and only thing I could think of was to teach the English gentleman in the Patio Grill to make Jerry's pizza! Maitre'D is Julian, haven't got his last name yet. He's funny and nice. The bartender in the patio grill area is Ashwill Trout.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't made a lecture but have heard they are good, especially the one on Leonardo da Vinci. Bridge is going on. Tonight is Spanish dinner in the Colonnade but of course I will be in patio grill for the shrimp. Entertainment tonight is Van-Anh Nguyen, a very pretty lady from Vietnam who lives in Sydney. She is a classical pianist who started playing at the age of 15 months! and went on to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at age 4. At 12 she received her licentiate Diploma in Music (Australia) making history as one of the youngest in her generation. We are looking forward to seeing her (if I can stay awake)

Fairbourne ...I haven't met anyone from the Quest but several from other Seabourn trips. I think a lot took a break and are getting on again in the spring. It is a completely FULL ship. Not a suite available and supposedly was as of last May with a waitlist. This is only trip Seabourn makes to the land of Oz in the "summer" so I can see why plus everyone talks about the attractiveness of the NZ ports they haven't done before. The child in me came out and I signed up to feed the sharks and stingrays in Bora Bora. My husband says he will watch from the boat.

Just got out of the pool (84 degrees) and have to get cleaned up for trivia. Fun trivia group and can't believe we are in second place....don't know

how long that will last! However, Nick keeps reminding us that it's all about the $2.50 umbrella....

I will try to pay more attention to the wine but it's really just your run of the mill average wine...not bad, not good. We always say there are two kinds of wine....celebratory and medicinal. This is definitely medicinal. Not being champayne drinkers I don't know how to respond to the quality of that but I will ask someone who knows more than me.

Have to go to trivia. More later! Wish you all were with us too!!

Hi Nancy!

Very nice to read your posts today....!

Thanks for the regards from Bozi.... is his wife Sandra also on board? Regards back of course and also to Nick Hale, Julian and Ashwill and captain Dexter .... and to so many others I suppose:)! Oh yes... our Norwegian friends Erik and Hans-Otto.

In your first post you wrote that the drill was without the life jackets...? That's a first! So as a matter of fact it was very easy going.

I'd like to warn you for the mosquito's on the islands like Bora Bora... When we were there I got eaten so badly that it stayed with me for weeks:eek:.

So use some repellent... is that the word?

I wish you a lot of fun! How many days is your cruise?

Hugs,

Marja

Marja, you are right, everyone knows you....and Martha! I have not met the Norwegina couple but Scandanavia has said to say hi too and Nick said he would point me in their direction. All the other service personnel are great. I don't know if Sandra is on board but I will check. Yes, no life jackets! It was wonderful. You just brought your card. So easy. Nice change. Yes, I have been warned about the mosquitoes and we have noted. Going to write more now, so read on my general one. We get off in Sydney...34 days. We go to Florida in March so can't miss that. Many staying on for 60 and a lot doing the RT back to Ft. Lauderdale. Great group...similar to our Quest group.

Is Julian in the Collanade, the same Julian who was on the Pride as Restaurant 2 Maitre D' several years ago? He's very handsome, and so charming.
Jagi, the Julian maitre'D is in the restaurant and his last name starts Pan.... I will ask him next time we eat there. Goncarlo Seno is the one in the Colonnade. He is great. Mandie and John do the Patio Grill. They are all lovely. Mandie is t\going to try and get me a thin "Jerry"s pizza"!!

The classical pianist I wrote about yesterday was fabulous last night. She played popular classical and really appealed to the group. I didn't see one person walk out early or no one asleep. I am looking forward to her next concert that is a pre-dinner concert. She is young, gorgeous and really enjoying being on the Seabourn...and her talent is remarkable. Cloudy and several rainstorms today.

We went to the destination talk at 10: Carol, the manager did it. Very well done. She is thorough and gave great tips on our first two places Nuku Hivu and Hiva Oa. They are the largest (Nuku Hivu) of the Marquesa Islands altho sparsely populated and with no Seabourn tours. Just beautiful scenery. However all the locals come in with their trucks and 4wheels offer tours They have no insurance so Seabourn cautioned us about the narrow roads, animals crossing at random times, joggers going down the middle of the road, etc. and since this was beginning of journey not to get wiped out. We have with another couple procured an English speaking guide and are going to try it...stay tuned. The second island is Friday the 13th? I hope this is not an omen. That island's claim to fame is the burial of Paul Guaguin and another British music person, Brian Grel...excuse my spelling. I'll tell you accurately after we go. It is the second largest and also same situation, no tours, just locals that have varying English abilities and various types of vehicles. I think we may walk this one. Black sand, not particularly good swimming but some interesting things to see.

Lunch in Colonnade with gutters overflowing with rain but VERY warm. Martha told me to ask Captain Dexter about the frog races and I did. He is going to look for them and if he finds them AND we have a sunny day, we may have them. Trivia the usual fun. Phobia was Mycophopia (sp?) fear of fungi. Also how many breadsticks do they do each day? Almost everyone said 2,000 or so. We said 4,100 and we were the closest!!! No one got the bonus question as to the two countries who did the first international cricket match...US and Canada!! Also what was only x-rated movie to win an academy award? Midnight Cowboy!! Love the trivia questions! I'm not good but I learn a lot.

I went to the casino. Such fun. I played the penny slots, put in $10, kept going up and down for twenty minutes and then had not won for a while so played like 10 lines and won $25. I am not a gambler. Cashed out $20 to the good, went to the shop on seven and bought a $60 Seabourn Cutter and Buck shirt I had wanted but thought $60 too much. Now that it was 33-1/3 off (because of my winnings) I bought the shirt. Needless to say my husband was not impressed with my logic.

Again, Mandy and John manage Patio Grill, Julian Pan... is maitre'D in restaurant. Goncalo Seno is matre'D in Colonnade. We enjoy them all. We should get our book so that will help me put names with face. MANY Seabourn people with 8 and more trips on board. Fun to compare notes. So amazing to me that so many people have no clue about cruise critic. Host Dan, Nick said to tell you hi!! We have an assistant cruise director, Jay Michaels. He says he has been around a while but I have not seen him. Very nice. I miss the trio from the Quest, Heather, Annabelle and Handre.

Captain Dexter does trivia with Nick (who can certainly hold his own with anyone...ORDER< ORDER< ORDER.....) and another lady,Suzanne. Rebecca is social hostess but I don't usually see her until evening. I think I said before, really enjoy Gary T'To the guitarist in Club. He gets rave review from everyone...certainly does all our vintage songs...Hotel California, Cat's in the Cradle, lots of John Denver..bye bye American pie...

My husband went to the lecture "The History of US Naval Aircraft Carriers in the Pacific" with Bruce Linder. My Navy man husband loved it. Tonight is Epicurean on Deck...weather permitting...not looking good right now. Still raining. We are back in room and just put in "To Kill a Mockingbird"...I think it is nap time. More tomorrow.

I just showed my wife your justification for the purchase based on your one-third off the "real" price because of your winnings. Her comment? As you'd obviously been prepared to lose your original $10 stake on entering the casino, you can take that off the price as well, meaning your shirt actually only cost $30 and was thus a very good bargain! If Chairsin is reading this thread she will apparently understand the logic! Guys, don't even try!

GREAT MIND...will further explain to my husband! I think Chairsin is on a ship now but maybe they are back from the Christmas cruise. I will be looking forward to hearing.

Chairsin and Sailor Boy returned to Ft Laud on Jan. 5th ~I've been waiting for her postings ~I hope they are safely home and not ill with colds or flu. Perhaps they made stops on their way back to Az.

Please, when you see Carol F., tell her the Cowgirl sends a big Texas hug'! Carol is from Austin ~and yes, a very favorite Seabourn Dest. Team member ~she knows her 'business backwards & forwards":D

By the way, your Deck 6 suite is perfectly located! I enjoy being by an elevator! So convenient ~

Have more fun~
