Amsterdam - port to city center

We'll be stopping in Amsterdam in May and are wondering how easy it is to get from the port into the city. Is it within walking distance? Do the cruielines usually have shuttle buses (we'll be on Royal Caribbean).

Cruiseterminal is on B5. On B4 you find Damsquare, the royal palace etc.

Much depends what you mean with city-center...is it shopping or museums?

Canalcruises of 1 hour start around Centraal Station. The station is about 20 min. walk.

Tramnr. 26 goes to Centraal Station and further into town and stops close to ther cruiseterminal.

Thanks for the info, especially about the canal cruises. DH and I are just beginning to research Amsterdam and any information is appreciated.
