My Time Dinning how much the same is it?

Hi I have a question I was reading on John's Blog that My time dinning is getting very big. That they are having to rearrange what rooms they use to accomadate very one. We always do Early do to having kids and the serves get to know them and have there favorites out and ready even if it isn't on the menu. Are we able to request the Item through the matrede for our meals? We will be traveling with speacial needs services so I don't know if that plays a roll also. How does a table of 8 work for my time dinning? I just want to make the best decision for our group.

Thanks for the feed back

Since you have a larger group and you also have special needs, you may be better off with a set dining time and the same servers. This way there will be no question. We traveled with a group of 6 and my father is vegetarian, so they worked with him each day to see what he would want for dinner the next night, and it worked pretty well with Anytime Dining a few years ago. But if you really have more urgent special needs, I would stick with assigned dining...and the wait for larger groups can be longer than with 2 or 4 people. That way you will always see the shows as well!:)

With Anytime dining you can request the same every day with the same servers. One the first day contact the DR and make a standing request for the same time and same wait staff. On one cruise there was a group of 16 that did this in anytime dining.

I don't get this. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of anytime dining?? Meaning if want the same wait staff and your going to eat at the same time every night, why don't you just get traditional seating? I thought anytime dining is for people who might want to eat early one night and then late the next. It's for the people who don't like to eat on a set schedule. But if you make a reservation for the same time every night, then that goes against the whole purpose of "anytime" dining.

And by them signing up for Your time dining, that is taking up spots for people who really do want to just eat anytime, NOT on a set schedule.

You can ask for the same wait staff each night but cannot reserve a time

Considering your needs and the group size, traditional (early) seating sounds best for you. A group of that size will most likely have to wait for sometime if you sign for Your time dining. I think your time dining is best suited for small 2-4 people groups not large one.

Thank you all for your replies... My husband and I do like early dinning even though we have to end our pool day early. During the winter months this will not be as big of a deal. We have never sailed this time of year. We can still catch sun set have a before dinner drink and then start our night with some family time and then plenty of time for adult time. Which is nice. We like having our wait staff know what we like and I have to admit even at home we eat at certain place and ask for certain staff to tend to us we are spoiled when it comes to this, the advantages of living in a place where everyone knows everyone. We will stick to what is we know is best for us. Thanks for the advice.

We chose anytime dining because 6:00 is too early and eating around 9:00 is too late but we hope to find a wait staff we like and will probably eat between 7-8 every night.........

For larger parties, the wait would be longer just like at restuarants. I would stick with Early if i were you. Really it is meant for parties of two or four.

And definitely not meant for solo's who want to eat with others.

ATD is good if you get distracted (like Captain's Party or collecting winnings at the Casino:) )

you can still ask for same wait staff, but it might be at a different table.

I traveled alone with ATD & always had different table mates, which was fun. Breakfast & Lunch on sea days are always open seating.

We do anytime at 7:15 each night because early is too early and late is too late. We just split the differance.

Yeah but is 1 hour that MUCH of a difference. Really your talking about just 1 hour. Your not talking about a significant difference in time here. It's not like you have to choose between eating at 5pm or 10 pm, a 5 hour difference. How did you manage before YTD?

But oh well, I guess that's the good thing about YTD, you can choose to eat at a set time everynight or just wing it and go when your hungry.

Hi I have a question I was reading on John's Blog that My time dinning is getting very big.

that sounds strange,.

when I spoke to the guy in charge (since I cant spell marte de) he said the most sought after dining is Early. If early gets filled up (and it does quickly) the person is then wait listed but put into the anytime dining.

then when that gets gets filled the over flow goes to late dining.

I thought his post was strange also may be a trend.

For us, we do like the flexibility and don't go at exactly the same time each day. But we to tend to go in the same general time frame. Mainly, we prefer the YTD option because we prefer to sit together without assigned tablemates.

That's always been my understanding - as well.

I wonder if the OP was referring to perhaps YTD being more popular than Carnival aniticpated - and so more space is required . Early could still then be the most sought after....if it is that just more are choose YTD than was expected

Here is something I never hear mentioned....On our last cruise we tried ATD for the 1st time. Our group split into 3 one day (to do our own thing). Two groups found each other and were able to go to dinner together, but we didn't find the 3rd until much later. With set dining times, we have always known that we could at least find each other at that time and place. Not a huge thing. Just fyi. :)
