I've read here about being able to do this, but not sure that I've read of anyone actually doing so.

Did you take advantage of this extra 'perk'?

Wait until the last evening of your first leg, you can carry all liquor purchases out of the duty free store, to enjoy on your second leg.

Any advice on how you were able to do this?

Sealed bottles of alcohol and beer will normally be confiscated upon embarkation of your first cruise. You would claim it in the "naughty room" on the morning of the last day of the first leg of your B2B and take it back to your cabin. Even if you switch cabins for the second leg, your bags don't go back through the scanners. You're basically bypassing the system and get to enjoy the drinks on the second leg. Same situation with booze bought in ports the first leg, held until delivered the last night of the first leg. Booze bought the last night and they allow you to take it back to your cabin. It may only be a matter of time if they haven't already closed these loopholes. They can flag all the B2B cabin numbers to protect their revenue.

When we got our luggage on the first day we had a note in it telling us that we had some beer that had been taken out. It was funny, because we had 4 6packs. 2 in each suitcase. They only took one of them out of one suitcase, so the other 3 got through with no problem. If they would have digged a little deeper they would have found the other one. On the last morning of the first cruise, DH went to the club O2 as soon as he could, around 6:30. He had no problem picking up the 6 pack. He said the place was full of tables of beer and booze. He said they did not make him feel guilty at all. Just gave them the letter, and they handed him the beer.

Not anymore. As soon as they scan your S&S card, they know yu are a back-to-backer and will not release your purchase. Down in the hole it goes.
