Suite with kids in a inside

I am thinking about upgrading to a aft suite on our upcoming SKY cruise and was wanting some input from people who have stayed in a suite with children in another cabin. There will be 2 of us in the suite and 4 kids in a inside across the hall.

I do not expect the children to be able to dine at Cagneys for Breakfast and Lunch. But was more concerned about some of the other suite perks and how they were handled.

1) Boarding. Would they be able to come on with us in the VIP boarding?

2) Priority seating at shows would allowances be made for them?

3) If we all wanted to dine in our suite one night would this be ok?

4) Priority tendering could they come ith us?

Please do not flame me for these questions. I do not expect NCL to do any of these, I am only trying to make a decision if the suite perks are still worth it if I could not use the above. We are currently in a aft balcony so it will all be good no matter what!

Well, I'll start by saying that this may not even be possible, depending on the age of the kids. You'll need someone who is "of age" in each room.

With that said, I believe that priority boarding may be extended to the entire party and entertaining a larger group in your suite isn't usually a problem. However, reserved seating will likely not be possible for everyone and I'm not sure about the priority tender perk either.

I'm not sure about 1or 2

3 - it sure would be OK

4 - yes, your butler will escort you and your "guests" to tender.

The other poster is correct, NCL will NOT let you book minors into their own room. You will have to book an adult in each room. Once you are on board, it is no problem to get extra keys for the room.

Is there a 2 bedroom family suite available? Have you considered that? This way you will all get the perks and have extra room too.

Also, try booking the 3rd and 4th in your suite, the price should be the same and there will be less people without perks. Once you are on board, no one cares

where you sleep.

We have an adult booked ine each room. The NCL rep said the same thing when we booked, "You can change the sleeping arrangements once on board". There are no 2 bedroom suites offered on the Sky. But moving 2 of the kids over to the suite does make sense.

My take on booking one adult in each cabin is that the adult in the inside cabin won't get the suite perks. You may get an understanding consierge, but don't count on it.

1) Boarding. Would they be able to come on with us in the VIP boarding?

I have done this many times. What you do is put one of the adults in the reservation in the inside cabin. You will be able to go to Cagneys for breakfast with the adult in the suite. When the butler escorts you to the suite when you embark, tell him what is going on. THE CONCIERGE CONTROLS WHO HAS BREAKFAST AND LUNCH IN CAGNEYS. The concierge gives a suite passenger list and a VIP list to cagneys.

2) Priority seating at shows would allowances be made for them? Again, find the CONCIERGE the first day and tell him/her what you are doing.

3) If we all wanted to dine in our suite one night would this be ok? Been there, done that. No problem. Tell your butler what you have in mind.

4) Priority tendering could they come ith us? The concierge will escort your entire party to the tender.

BUT REMEMBER THIS. The butler and concierge survive on tips. If you have good ones, they will bend over backwards to please suite customers, but they expect to be taken care of, as well you should.

I HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL. :)

On the Jade they never asked about the name when entering Cagney's so they didn't cared who ate there. Two persons in a suite=two persons could eat at Cagney's. Maybe that's changed but that's how it was when we cruised on the Jade.

Can't speak for the Jade (haven't been on her) but we've cruised in suites on every NCL cruise we've made, and they were always quite careful about asking for names & suite numbers (or seeing key card), and comparing them to the list when being seated at Cagney's for breakfast or lunch.

The only exception occurs when the hostess at Cagney's begins to recognize faces, and greets you by name. They still check you off on their list.

Of course, the issue of non-suite family members eating with suite family in Cagney's raises quite a ruckus on here. Most seem to feel (and I agree) that to do this is to take advantage of the system, and is not fair to those who have paid for the perk.

The answer everyone seems to like is: Order your breakfasts and lunches from Cagney's to be served by your butler in the suite, for as many people (including those in non-suites) as you like.

They always asked about our roomnumber and we always swiped the card to get into the restaurant but they never asked about our names.

For us by day 3 they always seem to know our names. There were times one of use would arrive at Cagney's before the other and they would ask if theother was coming. Even when they knew us the first one there always handed them the keycard. The platinum colored suite keycard is distinctive.

I agree that they seem to know the names but do they really know the names? If they the first day swipe the card and ask Mr and Mrs X? If the answer is yes they assume that the people they talk to are Mr and Mrs X so they know them by their name Mr and Mrs X.

I don't think they really care who eats there as long as not too many does it. As a guest that's that I think too, I don't care who eats there as long as they don't let too many people eat there.

They absolutely care about who eats there. And they do care if one of the adults is not in the suite because of the kids. Last two cruises this was a big issue for suite and non suite guests. Concierge and Hotel Director were very firm that if you did not book a suite, you couldn't eat there. Family had to take their meals in the suite if they wanted Cagney's.

Theater seating was for Villa's, DOS and OS only, all other suites were/are general seating.

Good luck:D

On the Star they asked for both of our key cards in Cagney's.

I have stayed in suite 0064 on Sky but with no kids. The bedroom is HUGE with own access to balcony. The living room is a good size too and has a couch that pulls out for a sleper. If you have small kids, they both could sleep there. But if they are teenagers it would not be large enough.

Just a thought if you have small kids. The living room has its own TV, VCR, DVD, etc to keep kids occupied. There is a door to the bedroom

Just a thought to save money ;)

Asking for keycards is one thing, asking for the name is something completely different. If four people are travelling together and two of them are in a suite, NCL have no reason to care about which two people who eats in Cagney's. If one of those staying in the suite decide to eat somewhere else, NCL have no reason to care if one of the two people not living in a suite eat in Cagney's instead.

I completely agree with you, if you are not in a suite you shall not eat at Cagney's. But I do think, and NCL seemed to agree when we were on the Jade, that if two people stay in, and pay for, a suite two people shall also be able to eat at Cagney's.

If a family of four book the cabins, one suite and one ordinary cabin, only two people shall eat at Cagney's. If both who eats at Cagney's also sleep in the suite, does it really matter? On the Jade NCL didn't cared but maybe they does on other ships.

we sailed on the Epic in March 2011 and had no problem bringing our daughter and friend with us through check in and to the shows. We did not tender, so I cannot speak to that. We did not ask they be allowed in the special suite dining room as we didn't want to push it, but I would see no reason any ship would frown on them dining with you in your room.
