Non US citizen and disembarkment

Recommended Posts

Hi, Does anyone know or has experienced disembarkment as an Australian Citizen, on the Oasis or similar ship. Would like to know your experiences as I am trying to establish if I have left enough time to catch a flight at Fort Lauderdale at 11:15am when the ship docks at 7am. Thanks

Hi, we have taken the express disembark option several times out of Ft Lauderdale as well as Miami and have experienced no delays. The non citizen line was processing people just fine. You should be fine :D

Unless you set up some flags to the Customs & Immigration folks, no problems.

US to AU & AU to US is easy. Never saw or heard of issues as long as all the paperwork was square.

If you prearranged ground transport you should have no issues making the flight you talked about in another thread IF the ship docks on time.

Probably 95%+ reliability on docking time, but that other 5% can bite you in the butt - @ 5% of the time. You just roll with it.

Enjoy your trip to our end of the big pond - I'm working on another one for us to your end in '13 (with a cruise, of course).

You've come a long way for your trip so why subject yourself to the stress/worry about ASAP flights ?

Stay over a day or two, then travel, don't lose that cruise relaxation more than you have to :)

As always in life there´s no guarantees, as things can go wrong in many ways.

However I´m a non-US citizen and when I disembarked the Oasis I didn´t fly out the same day, but by 11:15am I was already well into the keys on my way to Key West in a rental car picked up at the FLL airport.

This is a hot topic around here. Most of us feel that a flight booked after 11 am should be OK. Are you flying internationally or domestic? That will certainly make a difference as to what time you should get to the airport.

Oasis docks around 5 am. They need the extra time to handle the tens of thousands of pieces of luggage. Having said that, I think you should self-disembark, grab a taxi (not pre-arrange anything, it's not necessary), and go to the airport and get through security as soon as possible.
