New to HAL

We have booked a Caribbean cruise on the Noordam. Although we usually cruise with Celebrity we liked the itinerary offered by HAL and have decided to give it a try. The cabin we selected is a superior veranda suite on deck 6. Just curious as to how HAL will compare to Celebrity in terms of food and amenities. We would also like to know if there is much difficulty getting a taxi when we disembark in Ft. Lauderdale. Look forward to hearing from veteran HAL cruisers.

No problem at all getting a taxi from Fort Lauderdale. What category suite did you book on Celebrity? It could make a difference. the superior veranda suite is a larger veranda with a larger room. (quite nice). It has 24 hour concierge service by phone. Otherwise, the bulk of the suite perks go with the next category - deluxe veranda suite - if you happen to get an upsell offer close to the cruise which is decent - grab it:)

Last November I was on the Carnival Freedom, and there were 7 ships at Port Everglades, included one of RCI's "Big Honkin' Mother of the Seas" ships. :D It was very problematic finding a taxi.

We usually sail HAL but last fall we sailed on the Silhouette. I would say HAL and Celebrity are very similar, we love both lines now. We thought the food on the Silhouette wasn't quite as good, the entertainment was about equal, and the service is excellent on both.

I think you'll be very pleased with HAL. :)
