Carnival Freedom 3/10-3/18-a different perspective

Hi ,

We were in 6312, just down the hall...didn't realise we were neighbours.

I concur about the room steward, didn't meet him the whole trip, got only 3 towel animals the whole week.

Scott

We did receive our towel animals, but he was a strange bird that's for sure. He would purposely look down if he saw us coming, that way he didn't have to great us. My sister's room steward said they all call him "Obama" because he looks so much like him. haha!

We were in 9265. JoJo was our cabin stewart. Super guy and a super job. We received 7 towel animals! We were cruising with 2 teens, maybe that makes a difference? My daughter saved them in the closet and on the last night she lay them all out on the bed with a thank you note.

It is funny how little things can make such a difference.

Enjoying the review and seeing the same cruise from another person's perspective.

Thanks! We did receive towel animals, but not much else. It is amazing though the difference just a few rooms down makes. My family was at the other end of the hall from me and their steward was very personable and great!

I have the Fun Times loaded on my computer, but I'm not sure what the best way is to get them out to you all. I think it'd be easiest to just email the PDF to whoever wants them.

I am missing the last day's Fun Times. :( I have no idea what happened to the little tear out piece. I'll continue to search and if I find it I'll share it.

If you want the PDF, just let me know your email and I'll send it along. :)

Sea Day - March 11th

Today was our first full sea day. Jake & Joe slept in while the rest of us went and got a Lido breakfast around 8:30. It wasn't too crowded. Jim got an omelet, and some woman cut in front of him and proceeded to order 5 omelets for her family. Being from NY originally, it's hard to bite your tongue when this happens, but when Jim asked the woman why she was an ass, all she said was that she has a baby. ? Whatever. We didn't let that spoil his mood for long, but we did experience a few rude passengers along the way, which is to be expected when you're with 3000+ people.

After breakfast, we wanted to lay out for a while. We found a whole bunch of chairs on the side of Deck 10 back away from the Lido area and across the Serenity Deck. This turned out to be "our spot" throughout the rest of the cruise. We could always find open loungers here, and you could still hear the music being played on Lido so you didn't feel too removed from the cruise. We stayed there for a while. It was pretty chilly with the wind, and then it started to rain a little, but after that it was ok.

One thing to note is this trip was VERY rocky. I don't know why, it wasn't storming that we could see, maybe it's the time of year and the position of the islands? Whatever it was, we didn't have smooth sailing until the last 2 days. I'm normally ok with slight swaying, but I had to take Bonine on most days to feel comfortable.

We decided to watch the Master Mixologist competition down on Lido. We didn't realize you had to sign up the night before to be entered, something to remember if you plan on participating. It was kind of boring. After that, Eddie and I had to go to the MDR to pick up our drink tickets. Since we had dinner at the steakhouse on the first night, we never received them. We waited for about 45 minutes for those things. I wish they would've just left them in our room or put them at Guest Services. But it was ok, we got our tickets and then went straight up to the Sun King Steakhouse for the food and wine pairing with my sister and BIL.

You do not need reservations to attend this. The cost is $15 per person, and it's well worth it! Especially if you're like my group and don't really know too much about wine. We all really like wine, but this was very interesting to see how different foods taste with the different wines. Marco, the sommelier, is very passionate about his job which makes the whole experience even better.

Tonight was elegant night, so we all got dressed, took some pictures before dinner (yes, people aren't exaggerating when they say the photographers are EVERYWHERE!). You could barely walk past them on Deck 5, especially around the Casino, it was very crowded. We all received a notice that our table request had been met and we were moved to the Chic dining room at table 602. Honestly, nothing sounded that good to me at dinner, so I got the fried chicken. The waiter made fun of me! lol

While walking around after dinner, we saw the Captain just hanging around near the casino. No one was around him for the moment, so we jumped in and got a picture. Then, we headed up to Lido to take some pictures in our formal wear. After having some fun in the wind, we headed to the comedy shows. The 2 guys that Carnival had on were so funny! We really enjoyed them. The first guy was funny, the second guy, Steve White, was hysterical. I wish they would've had him for the whole week. It was pretty late by the time the last show ended, so we called it a night, while Jake and Joe went looking for some fun in the Disco.

As a fellow New Jerseyian, I couldn't help but laugh at this.

Thank you! I'd love a copy, since we're taking this cruise in June. Again, many thanks! :)

Great review so far! Looking forward to reading the rest of it! Love your pictures! Y'all look like a fun, FUN group!

Did you know you can watch your sailaway from the FLL webcams? Those people blowing the horns in the condos as you leave - well, someone airs them live as they're happening. I love to watch them on the weekends - very busy port days! Go to portfever dot com, hover over Port Everglades, hover over HDTV webcam, select Sail Away Replay. Underneath the video there's a down arrow - just scroll until you find Freedom's March 10th sailing. Yay! Hope you find yourself in the video! They zoom in on some of the balconies and decks. Pretty awesome!

Keep up the great work on the review!

Just curious if you remember when the past guest party was. I may have looked over it but just thought i'd ask

Im pretty sure it was on Monday the 12th, the day we were in Grand Turk. For some reason I didn't write about it in my journal. I'll find out for sure but I think I'm right...

Actually it was La Romana, the next day. It was done in the main showroom in 2 "shifts".
