MrCo9 Posted April 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2012 Don't remember the name of it, but the casino next to Casa Del Mar was nice and friendly. Maybe 15 tables, 1 craps table, Caribbean Stud, Roulette and 21.
Dicenator Posted April 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2012 I've been to Aruba a couple of times. On Aruba there are 10 or 11 casinos with 2 of them being in Oranjestad where the ship will dock. The rest of them are in the high rise section which is a short cab ride or you can take the public bus which runs all along the main roadway along the coast. The bus costs maybe $1. In the high rise section you can walk from one resort casino to the next one. They all have slot machines and typical table games such as craps, roulette, blackjack, 3 card poker and of course Caribbean stud poker which was created in Aruba. The typical minimum bet at the table games is $5. You didn't say if you had a favorite game but if it is craps, Aruba is not the ideal place. Probably 9 out of the 11 casinos do not allow dice setting. My favorite casino there is the Alhambra which is right outside the city at the beginning of Eagle beach. jkirby4 Posted April 23, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted April 23, 2012 thanks for the responses. Wife and i are avid blackjack players. been playing a long time. i have played craps a couple times and am thinking of playing some this trip. pass line and odds and maybe a couple come bets but thats about the extent of my playing. i think when i am up some at the BJ tables i'll take that over to the craps tables to play a little. have you ever ridden the bus in Aruba? is it very tourist friendly or is it mostly natives. thanks again
Dicenator Posted April 23, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2012 The bus in Aruba goes from Oranjestad all along the coast to the end of the island. You will have a mx of tourists and locals. The native people on Aruba are extremely friendly and quite a few of them speak English. My wife won $1000 at blackjack for the week we were there on our honeymoon in 2002. Every night was up $100 or $150. She didn't even know what she was doing back then and had never heard of basic strategy. I don't know the rules in Aruba such as the dealer hitting or staying on a soft 17 or if they restrict splitting or what they do with doubling down. I emailed the Alhambra a few years ago with some questions concerning their craps game and I got a response from them within a few days. I also tried some of the other casinos in Aruba and got no response. Aruba is a great island to vacation on. I'll be on a cruise in August which will stop in Aruba and Curacao. cb at sea Posted May 2, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 2, 2012 If you HAVE to leave a table because of time constraints, you will be winning...it never fails!!! We always try to hit the BJ table if we have someplace to be in a given amount of time...it always works!
bluesman0711 Posted May 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2012 My wife and I played a few minutes of slots at the casino located in the Westin on Palm Beach last December and both walked away winners. It was during the day and very slow, easy to walk in from the beach.
