What to do on the second cruise?

I have a list now after cruising for the first time as a family of general things I want to do. We are cruising on Sunday, and although my list is by no means exciting, I am still excited!

  • Eat lunch more in MDR
  • Go to hot tub early in the morning
  • Have photo made on elegant night or steakhouse night (bought a new dress today!)
  • Order room service
  • Watch sun set (never did on the first cruise because we were always at dinner)
  • Look at jewelry in ports
  • Eat at the sushi bar
  • Play slot machines (not a gambler, but I'd like to hang out and try it for a kick for an hour)
  • Visit a night/dance club

What would you do the second time around?

~ Hang out for an evening in the Piano Bar....always fun!

~ Sing karaoke at LEAST once!

~ One night, while everyone else is at dinner, take your kids up to the Lido deck and swim under the stars. :)

So many fun things to do!!! Enjoy!

On my 2nd cruise (oh so many cruises ago), I decided to take photos of the ship, from fore to aft & everything in between!

I also decided to try different things from the menu, that I wouldn't get at home because it was too expensive or something you couldn't get at home.

Take tooooooooo many pictures. Have strangers take photos of you and your family so that NO one is left out.:)

I left out that this time it is just me and my DH and no teenage boys along, so we are looking forward to that part, too!

Go to Tea Time....I missed it my first and second, gotta wait until I can book a 3rd.

This is going on the list. I'd read about this here and was intrigued but had forgotten about it!

We are going to the Steakhouse on this cruise (not one on the last), and I was just reading the thread about a disappointment there. I hope that we will enjoy it, and I figured we'd try it first hand since we have the opportunity. :)

Go to Tea Time....I missed it my first and second, gotta wait until I can book a 3rd. Did this on #4, kinda disappointing....not really my cup of tea, but then again, sweets aren't my fave

~ One night, while everyone else is at dinner, take your kids up to the Lido deck and swim under the stars. Did this on #4 on the Elation at the small aft pool. We have some wonderful night shots of DD in the pool. We were the only ones out there for an hour or two.

This next cruise I am planning breakfast & lunch at least once in the MDR, more naps, less trying to do everything, try more unusual food instead of sticking to the tried and true familiar, go to the past guest and farewell parties (never been to one yet) and try not to think of problems at home or work while I'm away!

your list and the things others have posted is good...I have cruised 4 times, and there are still some things on my to-do list...not all of these might be offered on every ship

--behind-the-fun tour

--captain's past-guest party

--hang out in hot tub

--play miniature golf

--water slide

--wine tasting session

--hypnotist show

--watch movie on Lido deck big screen

--anytime dining option

--digital scavenger hunt

--St. Jude dance benefit

--portrait sitting in vintage costumes ("old west")

--slot tourney in the casino

--that adult-only game that I can't recall the name of right now

--finding the "secret" deck at the front of the ship

- How do you find out about the past guest parties? Do you get information once on the boat because I don't think I had any information in my cruise management info.

Never heard about that......will have to look into that.;)

I read about here somewhere. I wonder where they do it, though? We were on the Elation last time, and I don't remember it from the Fun Times or anyone discussing it, but this trip is the Conquest.

I think that you are on this cruise perhaps? I have not signed in to the roll call, but I read it earlier, and I think I saw your name. We are going on the Conquest out of NOLA on Sunday 5/6 to Key West and Bahamas.

I definitely also want to add watching a movie on the deck to the list, too.

Wine-tasting - Definitely!

Go to the MDR for breakfast. 3 cruises and I still haven't got to that one yet.

We did that last time every morning except one (when we overslept), and it was a great way to start the day. We had lunch there only once, and I would like to do that more. I like the quiet of the MDR during the day. :)

I liked the martini sampling. Be sure you share it with someone tho. You pick five flavors and they give you five little martinis and a wine charm. We had fun sharing and tasting something different. I love the chipotle.

Find the forward deck on the Lido. It is so cool out in the front of the ship.

Have a great cruise!

Tea time, for those who asked is only on "sea days" I believe it is in the MDR around 3PM. But check your funtimes for a definite time & place.

truchattycathy: I hadn't heard of the martini tasting, thanks for mentionig that. I will check it out on our Dream cruise, if I remember.

Hope you have a great time, this will be our 6th cruise & we are still finding things yet to do.

This sounds like my list for our next cruise! We were so overwhelmed the first go around we really didn't do much. Glad we weren't the only ones!:D

If you're stopping at an island that doesn't interest you, stay on the ship that day. You'd be amazed at the how different it is when not that many people are onboard. Easy to find nice chair location, better bar waiter service, nobody in the pools, etc.

My second cruise is in 23 days and I've been keeping a list on the memo section of my Blackberry of all the things I want to do that I didn't the first time! Here's my list:

Cooking demo in the steakhouse

Past guest party

Chocolate buffet

Eat pizza

Check out specialty cafe

Play mini golf

Buy a drink in a funnel cup

Bring soda/waters onboard the ship during embarkation

Towel folding demo

Farewell party

Tea time

I also want to buy ship magnets like I did last time and take formal photos. I'm also contemplating getting my hair cut AND colored! I started a thread awhile ago asking if anyone knew when the color, cut and style special was, but didn't get any replies. :(

My DS who has Autism got it in his head from watching some movie that he wanted to eat pizza in bed. He kept repeating it, so I knew it was important. So, one night after 11 pm I went up to the Lido deck and got him a piece of pizza and brought it back to the cabin. He had just settled in to his upper bunk and when I walked in to give it to him he was thrilled!

So, if you haven't tried it, pizza in bed is great on a ship.

I did tea time last sea day on the last cruise and there were finger sandwiches more than sweets, which was fine with me. It was nice sitting with other people and talking about how their cruise had been. Did the Martini tasting, too. Delicious!

Next cruise I want to go to the mixology class. From what I read it is the same price as the martini tasting, but you actually learn how to mix them and they give you lots of samples plus a full-size drink and maybe even a coupon for a drink later.
