Getting from Bellingham to Vancouver

Because rates are so much better, we're flying from Las Vegas to Bellingham for our cruise. It leaves from Vancouver.

Anyone know what shuttles run from that airport to the area hotels? We were thinking of staying at the Hampton Inn. Pan Pacific was just a tad too $$$$ for us. Wish it was cheaper. We'd also need a shuttle after the cruise from Canada place to Bellingham airport after.

Thanks

We used Shuttle Express to get from the airport to our hotel and then took the Amtrak the following morning to Vancouver. Returned to Seattle at the end of the cruise where we had previously booked again with Shuttle Express to get to the airport. Unless you are among the few lucky early arrivals at the Vancouver port - be ready for a terrible experience boarding your ship. It took us 3 1/2 hours.

As Bellingham is some two hours north of Seattle the Seattle Express would make little sense for the OP. Quick Coach or rental car is your best option but watch for drop charges on the rental car. Quick Coach's last stop is Canada Place where you will have a $10 cab fare to the hotel...but check with the Hampton they might pick you up as they do offer a free shuttle to Canada Place in the morning.

From BLI to downtown Vancouver, QuickCoach is probably your best bet. Be advised that Bellingham Airport is an on-request stop, so you have to phone in advance to have them pick up there.

The other option is Amtrak from Bellingham either the night before, or day of cruise. There are two trains /day

dep Bellingham 0952 arr Vancouver 1140; and

dep Bellingham 2100 arr Vancouver 2250

price is right too, $14.00

As someone pointed out Seattle Express isn't appropriate, however given no one suggested it in the 1st place, I'm confused as to why it was mentioned.

I would suggest (if you haven't booked yet), that you look at prices on WS/Westjet into YVR. Flying into Canada generally is pretty reasonable, it's flying [internationally] into the USA that kills you with added taxes/inspection fees imposed by the US Govt. Also factor in that WS have a one free bag policy, so that's a $20-30 savings depending on the airline you pick.

All that being said, I fly out of BLI all the time, it's an easy/small airport to get in and out of.

Only some of the Quick shuttle buses go directly to Canada Place - many will come to there downtown hub - the Holiday Inn on Howe and from there they will shuttle you to either the Hampton or a close by hotel.

Hope this helps

US based companies aren't allowed to transport cross border so Quickshuttle is really your only choice and it will work out good for you. Amtrak is perhaps a $20-25 cab from airport in Bellingham.

And with Quick shuttle since you must reserve in advance you name is sent to DHS - they will also according to there phone message scan your passport etc as you board the bus - this helps speed up things at the border.

Cheers
