Hi guys,

I just got back from a cruise about 2 weeks ago. I spent a great amount of time and money gambling at the black jack table. I was rated by giving them my card every time I played. I am planning to book my next Carnival cruise and I don't know if theres someone I can call to see if I can get a discount on my next cruise from gambling. I know this isn't Vegas or AC but they are rating for a reason, right?

Does anyone know how or have any experience being rated and how post booking cruises work?

PS This past cruise was my first CCL cruise and by playing much the first few nights, they delivered chocolate covered strawberries to my room. RCCL or Princess never did that!

Maybe do a search on casino rate? There are some seriously discounted cruises offered to those who belong to the casino club.

There was a thread yesterday about how you probably need to be in the $2K range to get free stuff delivered on your cruise. Many in the $1K range didnt qualify, though in the past seems like they got 1 of 2 levels of baskets.

If you qualify for the casino rate, you usually also get some free OBC to spend in the casino on your cruise as well.

Also, on the cruise you were on, if you are rated 1500 points, you should ask for and get "drinks on us" and get free drinks. I think they still do this.

There are several things if you are a big gambler.

I have never spent 2k in the casino and have gotten the premium pkg during my 2010 and 2011 cruises, I spend maybe $200-300 if that.

This year I booked the V.I.P casino rate, all I am getting is $75 casino cash this time,..

Did you play min of 25 for 4 hours per day? If so call the players club and speak to Michael. Don't expect much, unless you are on ncl ship. Once again cruise ships casinos are just for entertainment and not for comps.

This is the phone number for the Ocean Players Club....you can actually call them for possible casino rates.

For Carnival Cruise Lines, please call 1-866-299-5859.

Thank you very much for your responses. I however did play more than 25 for more than 4 hours. I understand that's how the cruises are but it would be an added bonus for a discount. When there's anything around that offers gambling, its hard to avoid for me.

I will reach out to Michael before I book anything

Its only select cruises they offer the casino rate on.

So, depends on if you dont mind flying to a port to leave too, but the rates are REALLY good. I've even seen just pay taxes and fees and go. Dont even have to pay the cruiserate.

We just booked a cruise through our TA. She told the Carnival rep that we qualified for the Senior Citizen and Military rate. The Rep looked at all of the pricing and said that we also qualified for the casino rate or whatever they call it and that it was the cheapest rate. We both also get $50 casino cash once we board.

I got that same deal for my next cruise too.

Hmm, my wife spent about $4000 at the casino on our 4 day cruise and when she called they said $5000 minimum spend (which is a lot for a 4 day cruise -- at the casino).. :(

(oop was only about $600 though -- and we still came home with plenty of winnings -- the $4000 estimate is based on her points accumulated on the slot machines)
