Can the Concierge do this?

I think I posted this inside of another thread, but can't seem to find it now. Can the concierge book us at the Chef's table? Can they arrange a behind the scenes tour gratis? I know that I can do these things myself, but I've used the concierge on other lines for things like this and wondered of NCL's concierge does the same things. The last time I had a concierge on NCL (POA), I didn't find them to be very helpful or even willing to help when we asked for something. I know that they can get you off the ship earlier than others, but what else have you all found the concierge useful for?

On my two cruises in NCL suites, I too have found the concierges to be generally unhelpful. However, s/he should at the very least make restaurant reservations for you when asked.

The behind the scenes tour is not free except for very special passengers.

If you are in a suite then yes the concierge can and should book for you and charge the appropriate fee to your account. Behind the scenes tour is free for platinum members. We have always found the concierge could get us better seating and/or reservation times than if we did it ourselves.

Chef's Table takes so few I would do this myself. Since you have priority boarding I would do this as the very first thing on board.

By being in the priority boarding area you will meet the Concierge and can make your wishes known and be booked before anyone even gets on the ship.

John, agreed. But... Did I mention I am a worry wart? Concierge writes it down, has several vip pax boarding and... Doesn't get done (in time)?

I can hear my sister laughing at me.

Yes the concierge can do it. The chef's table is usually limited to 12 per table. As the popularity increases the opportunity decreases.

I arrived late on embarkation day (1300) on my last cruise and there were only two spots left.

My advice is to tell the concierge in the VIP lounge, then go straight to the dining display in the atrium and book it there. You will get a reciept right there and will be sure.

As others have said it is one of the most enjoyable dinners you will have on the cruise.

Our Concierge experience has been exactly the opposite. Immediate reservations for anything we asked for. Booking into venues that were sold out. Special seating when no good seats were left. Priority for everything, Chocolate Buffet got us 30 minute early entry for pictures, then serving and seating before the doors were opened to others.

When Teppanyaki was full, somehow, he got us seats. Best experiences we've ever had.

We were also able to happily book the Chef's Table through the concierge at boarding. 5 of the 6 couples who were at the event were Suite guests who booked through the concierge at boarding. The Executive Chef invited all of the attendees to a galley tour later in the week.

The behind the scenes tour is more challenging. I believe, as others have said, that only Platinum Guests and other specially selected VIPs are invited gratis. Everyone else needs to pay, regardless of accommodations.

This was unveiled in March

"We are thrilled to unveil our intimate, once-in-a-lifetime Chef’s Table Dining Experience. Guests who attend will marvel in an incredible culinary adventure as they feast on a nine-course, upscale menu consisting of unique and contemporary creations using the highest quality ingredients, sophisticated cooking techniques, flavor compositions and captivating presentations. All courses are accompanied by wines that are specially paired by the line’s Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson. Some of the dishes served at the two-and-a-half hour Chef’s Table dining experience are: an Amuse Bouche ‘Molecular Gastronome’ consisting of Spherical Mango, Vodka & Jalapeno Ravioli, an Orange-Wasabi Glazed Ahi Tuna Tartar with freshly-baked Sesame Crisp, Asparagus Cream, a Short Crust Tartlet and a delightful Grapefruit Moscato Granite, Plantain- Crusted, Pan Seared Sea Bass accompanied by Mango, Papaya & Avocado Salsa and Lobster Veloute, a Milk-Fed Veal Chop with Anna Potatoes, Sautéed Spinach and Truffle Veal Jus, a specially-selected cheese platter that boasts an assortment of gourmet cheeses and then the dessert grand finale, which consists of either a Yogurt-Mousse Dome with Lychee Raspberry Crème, Hazel Sablee and Lime Vanilla Reduction; or a Chocolate Log with ‘Spiced’ Dark Rum, Infused Banana and Cocoa Mousse. The Chef’s Table is limited to 12 guests per exclusive dining experience, incudes a behind the scenes galley tour, two photos and is offered once per cruise on board Norwegian ships fleet-wide, with the exception of Norwegian Jade which rolls out March 22, 2012 "

I believe it is about $75 pp.

Donna you are not alone in doing things like this. If I want to make sure I get something or have something done, I cannot leave it to someone else. If it isn't overly important to me, then I can trust someone else to do it. I live by the old rule "that if you want something done and done right, do it yourself"

And really as a suite pax you are on before everyone else, so while the consierge escorts everyone to Cagneys or whereever, you can slip out and be first in line to book it. Sounds logical to me ;)
