Tampa advice

We had a family home in Tampa for 25 years, we never did half of the items on the list. We used to go out to Ft Desto park loved to ride bikes out there and watch the sunset.

I too envy those who do not have to pay for airfare, or a hotel now that we sold our parents snowbird house.

I work in downtown Tampa and there have been several great suggestions on this thread. My favorite places in Tampa are the Florida Aquarium and Lowry Park Zoo. One thing I haven't seen mentioned so far is the Hard Rock Casino east of Tampa on I-4. Lots of good resturaunts and of course gambling if you are into that sort of thing.

A walking tour of historical Ybor City ending with dinner at The Columbia.

This would be my choice. I was born and raised in Tampa and we would go down to Ybor City after church, walk the streets, visit the shops and art galleries, since I lived there they upgraded the whole port area with parks, etc. and to eat at the Columbia is still my favorite thing to do. I would always get Boliche (stuffed pork loin), with yellow rice and beans for my Birthday with flan as desert. :)

Ft Desoto is very nice. We vacationed in Tampa year after year when we lived in the Arctic. When we finally made the move to Tampa, Ft. Desoto was one of our first weekend excursions. :D

Actually my original hometown is St.Pete, Fla. We live in Anderson, just NE of Indianapolis

Envy the Floridians that don't have to pay airfare to get to the port.

:):)

How cool!

My husband and I were actually born and raised in Anderson! I grew up in Park Place, and he on the south side. We both graduated from the old Anderson High School, and then Ball State in Muncie!
