Night Life on Ocean Princess

Recommended Posts

We are a group of four women (3 sisters and a girlfriend) that travel once a year together (husbands don't like to travel so we leave them home!). We range in age from 45-60. We've been on a few cruises on the bigger ships and enjoy some (not all) of the entertainment (shows, music, dancing) that the bigger ships offer. The next cruise we are planning is to Tahiti and Polynesia on Ocean Princess. We aren't big "party animals" but do enjoy some night life (shows, listening to music and dancing to the hits of the 60's and 70's ;)).With the Ocean Princess being a smaller ship, what kind of entertainment can we expect on this ship?

You will have three shoices.

First there will be a show each evening in the Cabaret Lounge. It is timed to mesh with the two dinner seatings.

Second is the Casino Lounge. They often have a piano player in there or karaoake.

Third is the Tahitian Lounge. There will be a band there for dancing and listening in addition to some games.

Plus an occasional pool party

I haven't been on Ocean yet but I've been on her sister Pacific. Yes, that's about right, the top deck lounge show is in two sessions (often with trivia during the break), we had a singer or duet many nights. The Caberet Lounge show will be a little smaller than you've seen on larger ships, but just as professionally done. There's no balcony, be warned!

I was never bored, but I was on a port-intensive itinerary (only three days out of 12 were sea) and I don't insist on being entertained by the crew every moment, I'm a balcony sitter. I would have liked more enrichment, though, there were regular port talks (then replayed on the cabin TV) and a historical talk every couple of days.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. We will be on a pretty port intensive trip (2 sea days on 11 day cruise). It sounds like there will enough to entertain us. Even on the big ships we tend to spend our time at one or two places rather than try to hit them all. We enjoy the shows each night and like to end our evening with a cocktail, music and perhaps a little dancing. We are just hoping that the promanade and lounges are not empty at 9:00/10:00 pm. With that said we do love spending time on our balcony! This will be a different experience for us since we've only been on the bigger ships.

Also did that cruise in 1996 on the same ship when it was called the Tahitian princess. Great entertainment. Polynesian dancers came on board in papaete and children dancers came on board in raitea. You at in for a real treat.

And you will not be bored. Grams98

We loved this cruise! The local dancers come on and they are incredible. Also, the view from a balcony on this cruise is amazing, with little motus randomly passing by. Things mellowed out pretty early at night. The library is very large and really nice, with lots of books and games.
