bauer6210 Posted September 2, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2012 I booked this cruise with Casinos at Sea & was told that We will receive The Free drink card In our Cabin on our first day. Could anyone tell me what Type of drinks they serve in the Casino? Are they the same Drinks as everywhere else on the Ship? Or are they Smaller, Draft Beer & so on? Because they are Comped. Same size drinks....they may not let you order the top shelf stuff, unless your a big player. They usually only serve you while your playing, and 1 drink at a time. No problem getting bottles of beer.
HouNew2Cruise Posted September 3, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2012 I was on the spirit with CAS drink card on both of my sailings. I was able to get Crown and Seven and a frozen mudslide. They came in a tall glass. Possibly a 16oz glass, like a pint beer size. Not small at all.
terrymtex01 Posted September 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2012 I have always been able to get any and every drink I wanted with the drink card, and I always ask for specific brands. I do suggest trying their "cherry limeade".. it is SOOO good. 8-)
SuiteCruiser Posted September 3, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2012 I haven't had issues with their mixed drinks, though I have when ordering wine. Depending on the server, they only want to give the house Chardonnay or Merlot, where I don't drink either. Some supervisors will sign off on my Reisling, sometimes, I'm out of luck and need to stick to mixed drinks.

On every ship except the Jewel, I am able to order that in the casino. I don't understand why it's different on the Jewel. I am booked on her again this December and will definitely talk to the manager this time. Tracy
bermuda8553 Posted September 3, 2012 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2012 I don't know if this is where I ask this question, but if anyone knows I would appreciate any information. I got a free inside cabin room on ncl from a promotion at at foxwoods casino. Has anyone ever used this? Did you receive a form 1099 to report the value as a taxable gift, and if so what amout do they use to tax. Someone told me they use the price from their brochure which is $1200. pp. The most I've seen inside room go for from ny or boston to bermuda or the bahamas is $700. Thanks for any help. I receive "free" cruises from CAS (though not through FoxWoods). I have never gotten a 1099 from them. The only time you need to worry about paying taxes is when you hit big in the Casino. :D
terrymtex01 Posted September 3, 2012 #9 Share Posted September 3, 2012 bermuda.. That should be no different than those of us who get comp'ed directly through CAS. Except for our first cruise we have been comp'ed on all of them and never had to report the actual comp. Oh.. and you should also get the free drink card just as if you were comp'ed through CAS, at least that is what i understand.

Tracy I would be happy with Pinot Grigio too :) the house Chardonnay leaves a lot to be desired. I've ordered Reisling and had them bring the Chardonnay thinking I wouldn't notice? I know, I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth :)

I like that idea, but I've never gone to the bar in the casino. I always get my drinks while I'm playing, which is too often :) I do always tip my server though. I never have, and I am 2 days away from leaving on my 5th "free" CAS cruise (dang, I think I gamble too much ;) ) ... so go ahead and book that free cruise - and enjoy! :D

SuiteCruiser Posted September 5, 2012 #16 Share Posted September 5, 2012 ive been served white zinfindel-cant see why you couldnt get pinot? I will try again at the end of the month. I had been turned down on the Epic (I earned my card on that sailing) then on the Gem a few months later. Honestly, I haven't tried for my last few cruises, as I found it frustrating. SuiteCruiser Posted September 5, 2012 #18 Share Posted September 5, 2012 How do you book a cruise through CAS ? Is there a major price difference ? Thanks The phone number is (888) 313-8883. You need to have had a CAS players card from a cruise so that when you call, they can check your play. Your discount is based on that play, sometimes all they will offer is 5% off, sometimes a free cabin. Sometimes you can call and be offered 5% and call back a few days later and be offered more, depending on the cruise you pick and perhaps the person who answers the phone. You always need to pay your taxes and port charges though, so it's never really free.

I also used a free cruise credit via Foxwoods 2 years ago. We upgraded from an inside to a suite. We did not receive a 1099. Maybe because Foxwoods is in financial trouble this is the reason they sent this to you (they may have paid the tax for prior years). I did not use their NCL voucher his year, NCL had a better offer. ask your account for details about reporting.

Sailed ncl 2 yrs ago on a Foxwoods promo we upgraded to a mini-suite. We did not have to declare it for taxes. In fact, we never received a 1099 form from ncl or foxwoods
sbdanny Posted November 6, 2012 #21 Share Posted November 6, 2012 Does anyone know approximately the play requirements for a comped cruise? I have never cruised before with NCL, but pam a semi high limit gambling in land based casinos. Really just play blackjack, I think I read something that said my host from a land based casino can provide information about my play, and I may get a better rate or comped cruise that way. For blackjack, I would guess somewhere in the region of $150/hand, minimum 4 hours play per day. That should earn you a comp balcony. They wouldn't take references from my Host @ Caesars. Stephen . cabincop Posted November 6, 2012 #23 Share Posted November 6, 2012 You have to earn your play on the ship, your host on land can't help. I agree it's about 100/150 a hand at least 4-5hrs a day. I can always get comped inside then just upgrade to another room
slotaddict Posted November 6, 2012 #24 Share Posted November 6, 2012 When I was on the Jewel, I was sitting at the bar in the casino and I asked the bartender for a chocolate martini...he didn;t want to make it because it had premium liquor in it...I said Ok just make it, I'll pay for it....he made it and took the card....:D
anthem Posted November 6, 2012 #25 Share Posted November 6, 2012 Ship only requires 2 hours per day play. Land based casino's usually want 4 hours/day.. . . In terms of what play gets what - I'll leave that to others. Harrahs/Caesars hosts have access into NCL. They can directly book in if they want to deal with the hassle of doing it. I imagine some hosts have never done it before and have no interest in doing it. But I know that caesars/harrah's hosts can do this, although if you're a marginal player they may not have an interest in doing it. .. And just about any host can/will take references from hosts/casinos that they know and place into their system. This obviously works more from well rated players that they would want to bring into their system. They'll just verify the play through casino credit as well. You might need to be in the top 5% of their customers for them to go through this hassle.
