Back from the September 19th Breeze sailing

Hi all,

Just back from the 9/19 sailing on the Breeze and I have to say, I am suffering from some serious post-cruise depression.

Were things perfect? No. Did I have an amazing vacation? YES!

I'm just going to share some of the things I experienced and will answer any questions I can.

I will eventually try to upload some photos, but I took over 5000, so it may be awhile before I can sort through them all.

Here was the itinerary:

9/19 Barcelona 5pm departure

9/20 Monaco 9am - 8pm (our arrival was delayed by about 45 minutes due to a yacht being parked in our spot. This was our only delay.)

9/21 Livorno 7am - 7pm (I visited Pisa and Florence)

9/22 Civitavecchia 7am - 9pm (Rome)

9/23 Olbia, Sardinia 7am - 4pm

9/24 Sea Day

9/25 Dubrovnik 7am - 7pm

9/26 Venice 2pm arrival (we were actually off the ship by 1:20pm)

9/27 Venice 7pm departure

9/28 Sea Day

9/29 Messina, Sicily 7am - 4pm (I visited Mt. Etna and Taormina)

9/30 Sea Day

10/1 Barcelona Debarkation began just after 5am and everyone had to depart the ship by 8:45.

My friend and I flew into Barcelona a few days prior and also stayed 1 post night. We booked our own air and pre-trip hotel and only took 1 Carnival excursion on the day of debarkation (to Montserrat and then a drop off at a Carnival booked hotel). I booked mostly private tours and shared with others on my roll call. We wandered around on our own in Dubrovnik and Venice.

We stayed in aft-wrap 7458. We had the 2 twin bed configuration. The cabin seemed a bit smaller than any others I had stayed in previously and there is no sofa in this cabin. The balcony was quite large though - narrow but long. We had 2 beds, 2 chairs, and a table and there was still plenty of room. When we couldn't find any deck chairs on sea days or just didn't want to deal with others, we really enjoyed relaxing on our own balcony.

We had late dining and were seated in Blush upper near a window at a table for 6. Our staff were great and we enjoyed our dinners. We skipped only 2 nights in the main dining room for Chef's Table and the overnight in Venice.

The food in the main dining room was hit or miss. The 1st night I ordered a rare steak and got it medium well. I did send it back and happily received my rare steaks the rest of the trip. Some of the food was way too salty for me but everything was always served hot.

Chef's Table was fun and we were seated in the galley with chaos all around us. It was a very interesting experience and the food was very good. The short rib was my favorite (when it was served in the main dining room too). Chef's Table was on Sunday evening after our day in Olbia.

Our 1st elegant night was the following evening (our 1st sea day).

The 2nd elegant night was on our 2nd sea day.

We did not eat at Cucina or the Steakhouse for dinner. We did try the pasta bar at Cucina for lunch one afternoon. It was ok. We also tried some food from Cucina, the Steakhouse, and Mongolian Wok at the Taste Bar. Those were all tasty.

The new pizza is really really good and we tried to get there a few times.

We had the breakfast burritos at BlueIguana but never went for lunch. They were good and there was never a line early in the morning, so this is where we ate many days prior to heading off to port.

My friend and I both loved Guy's burgers and we ate there twice. I had 'The Ringer'. YUMMY!

We also ate at Fat Jimmy's BBQ twice. It was really good the 1st time, but we were disappointed the 2nd time. Everything was ice cold. I didn't understand how we were able to go from loving it to throwing everything out.

We only ate at the breakfast and lunch buffets once. The food was mostly eh there and there were lots of other options we liked a lot better.

We went to the Punchliner Comedy Brunch all 3 sea days. The menu was pretty good and we tried different things each time. The comedy part of it was a bit strange though.

We also had some of the appetizers at the RedFrog Pub. My friend had the coconut shrimp and I tried the Firecracker Jamaican wings. Both were really good and worth the $3.33, in our opinion. Oh, and the ThirstyFrog Red was really good too.

We purchased Cloud 9 Spa Thalassotherapy pool and Tepidarium passes. It was $150 for each of us for the entire cruise. After all the walking we did each day, it was so nice to head to the spa for some soaking and relaxation. I also had a fire & ice pedicure and a hot stone massage.

We did not spend any time in Serenity (which was at the very front of the ship). We did not have any luck in the casino but I did win a Bingo game.

We went to a couple of the comedy shows. I can't recall any of their names right now but they were all pretty funny. There was 1 night we arrived too late (about 5 minutes before show time) and couldn't find a seat, so we just went for a walk around the ship.

Well, that's it for now. I still can't believe they forced me off the ship. I miss her and I miss my new friends.

Please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer.

Welcome back. Can't wait to hear about the ports and see some of those 5k pictures.

Thanks. Can't say I'm happy to be back though.

I'll try to get some pictures loaded by the weekend. I didn't think I'd take as many as I did. I almost filled a 32 gig card!

I didn't spend any time in the Liquid Nightclub other than during my roll call's meet & greet. Every time I passed by, I'd say there were maybe 10-20 people inside, but that was also earlyish in the evening around 10:30-11. I'm sure it became more active later on.

The Fire & Ice Pedicure is basically a combo foot massage and pedi.

They use cooling gels and hot stones and then end with polishing the nails. I brought my own color.

I also totally forgot to mention embarkation. We arrived at the port via taxi around 10:30-10:45am. After handing our luggage over, it took us about 1 minute to get through security and maybe 3-5 minutes until we were checked in. There are 2 shops near check in where you can buy water, soda, or alcohol. At this point, there are no other security checks, so you can buy as much liquid as you want. By the time we were done with our drink shopping, our boarding number was called and on we went.

DO U have pix when from your meet and greet.. Im just trying to see a lil of the layout, and table sizes, etc :) thanks for replying back

We actually just had an informal one. We all met in the club and had a bartender present for anyone who wanted to buy drinks.

I tried to load some pictures of the ship last night but received an error message. I'll try again this evening.

Thanks for the ship pictures!! If you have more, keep them coming :)

If it's easier you could upload them to Photobucket. PB supports bulk uploading so you can select a bunch at a time. Then you can link to the whole album from here or include single pictures into your posts by putting your mouse over a picture in your album and copying the IMG Code link that comes up. Then when you are posting here you just paste that link into your post, no need to use the attachments function or the insert image button.
