As Flyertalker said, Delta only uses one terminal at DET, so you would not have ended up at the wrong terminal for check in, even with the flight change. Maybe you are confusing "terminal" with "concourse?"

Where are you flying TO? Whose website are you looking at? Delta's or your destination airport?

 

Actually Delta doesnt fly out of DET. But they do use DTW. I believe Spirit Airlinez uses DET.

Dunno exactly which Embraer they are putting you on, but at least one model is wicked uncomfortable. I was bumping up against the luggage bin, & I'm only 5'6".
