Thanks OP for the Cabana pictures. I was hoping to get a good look at them before our cruise in December. Did you feel it was worth the $$ you spent? We have one reserved for our stop at GSC and was wondering what you thought of the experience?

Also, hope you and your family are well after Sandy. We are Jersey Shore residents and it's been a tough week here :(

Tonight we decided to dine at Le Bristo once we got back to the ship, showered and changed. We went without any reservation and were able to get in with no trouble at all.

We started with Duck Salad for me, and she had the Escargot. She had a chicken dish of which the name escapes both of us (it was really good!) and I enjoyed the Beouf Grille (Yum!!!!). We finished sharing a Creme Brulee and Flourless Chocolate Cake.

In all, the meal was delicious and we were happy to have tried this restaurant!

Ack! Call it a brain fart...I was reminiscing of our oh-too-short weekend cruise on the Dawn last year. I knew it was the Star...Thank you for catching that! :)

Thanks for review...Great pics....I have the same brain disease. I was on the Star right behind you heading toward Bermuda and I thought it was the Gem who was next to us...go figure. I have even been writing a review of my own on this page and I have repeatedly called it the Gem...Duh

Keep it coming.

Hope you and your family are ok...looking forward to the pictures, take care of your home and family first...we'll still be here.

We are all fine...Just busy with work issues and the demands the storm created for us there...We'll be glad once things settle down. :)

In all, yes the cabana was worth the money for us...We enjoyed being away from the crowds and having the shade available all day. I've seen people posting about the walk to the restrooms/food/bars being horrible, but it really isn't at all. Everything is literally moments away. We aren't in the best of shape, but we had no trouble getting around the island.

There were bottles of water and towels waiting for us. We had chips with three types of salsa, and a fruit platter as well, all included in the cabana. We used the $50 food credit on booze.:o:D

There were several attendants who really seemed to want to ensure we had a great experience.

All that being said, we have already booked a Cabana in each of our names for the November Breakaway cruise next year! I think some of our family members joining us on the island will very much appreciate the space and shade. I hope you have a great cruise!

Today they did a lifeboat test drill and ran several emergency scenarios. I'm glad to say the drill went off without a hitch!

After a lot of walking around we found this hidden gem of Nassau...Some great shops off the beaten path.

It was uprising to see the poor state of roads and sidewalks in and around Nassau. Considering the shear amount of visitors they get each year, I'm interested in why nearly every curb is in such poor shape. If you depend on a scooter, or wheelchair to get around, BEWARE as it will take quite some time getting around (as we saw with several wheelchair bound paxs with Carnival wheelchairs)...

We returned to the suite after some walking around and shopping here and there. I took to the Haven sundeck for some photos of Carnival Miracle leaving port. They were due to pull out at 4 pm (and boy were they sounding that horn over and over)...

A quick shot of one of 3 dumpsters full of trash coming off Carnival Miracle...

With the horn blasting the countdown to leave the pier, it came time for one of the best parts of cruising...Watching the pier runners!!!

Some were faster than others, some were just plain lazy and drunk, and some just thought it was funny as heck waving to their fellow PAXs as they slowly walked the the gangplank full of awaiting Officers and crew members.

Finally after a while of waiting, it seems the port agent went aboard to retrieve the passports of some missing PAXs (see the envelope he is carrying?)

I was curious why the ship was still docked after all this wait (4:45 pm now)...And then we saw this...

While the EMT's were aboard, some more PAXs made it to the ship. I saw the Port Agent going through the envelope to retrieve their passports and return them.

Sadly, it soon appeared that the PAX needing emergency medical transportation was a child...I do hope the family was alright. I was slightly surprised how fast once they were off the ship to see the gangplank get hoisted and the ship to set sail...Only a few minutes maybe, as the Port Agent assisted the family...

The ship set sail a hour and 15 minutes late.

Tonight was another quiet night as we enjoyed the sunset and dining with the Hotel Director Hugo and our friends Toby517 from Cruise Critic. Also joining us were another couple.

I apologize for the lack of "Porn" from dinner as DW made me promise not to photograph our plates...And being the good DH I am, I obliged. :)

I LOVE YOUR REVIEW! Wonderful photos and food porn - right up my alley! Also, thank you for posting a photo of prices at GSC. We will be there in 2.5 weeks on the Jewel!

Have a great cruise!

If you make it to the island, take pictures as I'm curious how they made out from Sandy.
