Loving your review! How often did you use the haven pool and courtyard? Trying to decide if its worth the extra money or just stick with the PH Suite.

Not as often as I thought I would, however your mileage may vary. I was glad to have them available to me, and did use the courtyard quite a bit. Having the top deck for photo ops made me a happy sailor. :D

I'm still following along...must admit I went back and read from the beginning! We just upgraded to Haven Penthouse - so I'm reading EVERYTHING now, instead of just skimming over the Haven parts!

We always used to joke when getting on the ship's elevator "penthouse level, please"... now it will be for real! LOL How much fun we are going to have with that!

Thanks so much for sharing with such detail - Love it!

First being it was right in the center of the ship and thus we would be required to fight our way through the hoards of other panicked passengers to get to the space, plus the space was loitered with potential debris from the chairs, tables, place settings, etc...Not to mention the deadly spikes on the ceiling of the atrium next to us which DW didn't help any when she told me it would be usefully to hold the bodies of pierced passengers when a rogue wave hit the ship and flipped us over.

Your wife and I think very much alike.

(Seriously, that would be something I would think about too.)

I'm very much enjoying your review. Thank you for your time, and please continue.

royal carribean is better IMO, much better...maybe I just got unlucky with a few things on the Jewel and thats why I might give them 1 more chance...but if you have a choice I would go RCCL...I would be doing Royal again but I hate flying and live in the NYC area so all there seems to be is the Explorer going to Bermuda and we have done that twice already...Breakaway will be a new ship and we are currently booked for that, so we are hoping for the best

thanks for the feedback. If we decided to go NCL, we would probably go for Epic or Breakaway...

Today was a SUPER lazy day for us. We originally planned to visit Harry Potter Land but decided against the idea when we realized how little time we would have to explore the park. Since we wouldn't dock until noon and the park was an hour away, we'd have to rush to see everything before the park closes at 7:30 pm. So, today became the day to sleep in. We slept and slept and then slept some more. We got a light breakfast, or lunch rather, it being so late in the day. Some muffins, croissants and fruit from the courtyard pantry.

Later on, we ventured out of the suite and visited the Java Café in the atrium. We experimented with a drink called a Iglu. This was a frozen drink similar to a Coolata from Dunkin Donut’s, only bitterer. In all, it honestly wasn’t that bad, but I don’t know if I’d try it again.

Still feeling exhausted, we went back to the suite to find some treats left by Ruth with info on where and when to meet for priority tendering into Great Stirrup Cay the next day.

Later in the evening we visited the Star Bar which was our favorite bar throughout the cruise to get drinks as we made great friends with Marcia and she was great! If anyone goes back there, find her and tell her Mudslide and BBC say hi! Tonight DW wanted to taste the Rebellious Fish which was the drink of the day…But they had run out of the fishbowl glasses! Marcia promised to have a bowl for us the next night.

We went to Azura for dinner but were in a hurry as we wanted to make it to the Majority Rules game show. I decided to try the Specialty Beef Stroganoff, while she tried the Specialty Pork Dish. They were both fantastic!

We made it in time to score awesome seats down the front in Spinnaker for the Majority Rules Game show. We teamed up with another couple and between the two women, came up with all the answers needed to WIN! The prize was for each of us to take home our very own Norwegian inflatable Beach ball!

We were getting ready to leave port so DW and I headed to the Great Outdoors where we had some ice cream from the buffet and watch the ship sail further and further from the lights at shore. Once we were done, we went back to Spinnaker to watch the Newlywed, not so Newlywed show which was absolutely a hoot!

Getting back to the suite, we discovered our first towel animal which we named Froggers!

Loving the review, but looks like I'll miss the rest of it until we get back from our own Jewel cruise. :D

Sorry I'm taking so long! The real world is keeping me busy!

Have a GREAT cruise and I hope everything works out with Sandy!

Great review with some awsome pictures. We were on the Jewel a few years ago. Great ship. Wonderful crew. The haven area always seemed quiet. Very relaxing. Bringing back some real nice memories for me. Thank you for taking the time to share.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been horribly busy with work and storm related issues, that I've been unable to post more about our cruise! I will turn this into a pictorial with little comments here and there to get this completed once and for all!

Sorry for anyone who has been waiting around for more! :o:(

Day Four: Great Stirrup Cay!

This (At top) will be the only shot of the island (shown at left) with my actual camera since I decided to leave it in the room safe while off the ship. We instead took my GoPro as this is waterproof and a very versatile camera. Thus, the photos you see from the island will have a very unique look as the lens is a 180 degree wide lens to allow expansive photos.
