After a lot of walking around we found this hidden gem of Nassau...Some great shops off the beaten path.

Isn't that the neatest place back there? It was very pretty. I discovered it too last year.

Ok, I have to ask. I have been trying to figure out what that stuff is on the bottom of the first picture. The little round things. Anyone know?

Also the second picture, what is the little swirled pinkish stuff that looks like icing on a cake?

BTW thanks for the review. We will be on the Jewel in December and was searching for reviews on the Jewel and ran across yours. :)

Wonderful review of the Jewel and great pictures. However I need to comment on something that deeply disturbs me since I also witnessed it first hand. It is extremely poor taste to take pictures of people suffering medical emergencies. For some reason people think being on a cruise ship makes this ok?

In December 2010 we were on the Epic and there was a medical emergency. It really made me sad and I was praying the person would be ok. But soon as the emergency people came by helicopter, it made me sick to see all the photographers running all over the ship trying to get a good picture. Have they no shame? All I could think about was the poor family on board looking down at the ship while fellow passengers kept clicking away taking pictures. At one point the captain came over the intercom to tell people to stop taking pictures because the flash could interfere with the pilots. But not one person stopped. Me and my wife were asked to move out of our chairs on the Posh deck so that one guy could get a good picture. We refused to move and this guy jumped over a table and spilled our drinks. Now I completely lost my patience and I started to yell and shame those idiots that had no personal regard for the family's privacy for such a tramatic situation.

Just imagine if I was your neigbhor and someone in your house was dying and they called an ambulance. Imagine if I came over and started taking pictures of you or your child being loaded in an ambulance. Dont you think you would come over and punch me? So I am not sure why this behavior is tolerated on a cruise ship.

One day later we learned from our butler that the little girl passed away. All I could think of were the many many fools running all over the ship and their only concern was their vacation photos. Heartless!

So I told myself that if I ever see this bad behavior by anyone again, I would speak out.

David, I took these from my balcony on the 14th deck. Just prior to the air lift, I and several other Haven Pax's watched in the Haven courtyard hallway as the medical team worked together to stabilize the victim. None of us took pictures of this as that would be "heartless" as you call it. There is always going to be a fine line between when a picture is acceptable to be taken, or not.

The Captain of the ship did announce that no flash photography could be taken, and not a single photo I took had a flash used. I took the photos as a whole, to share with others what would essentially happen should you or someone in your party ever require an air rescue. These photos weren't taken to be malicious in any way or shape or form.

I apologize if you were offended by my actions.

What is in those pictures?

First picture - Brie. Also, fresh mozzerella.

Second picture - Salmon mousse.

Brie /ˈbriː/ is a soft cow's cheese named after Brie, the French region from which it originated.

So this is cheese on the bottom? They had that stuff everywhere on our Pearl cruise (on the plates served to our room like the above poster and at the latitudes party) and it was the most bland weird tasting thing ever. It was almost like a rice cake and I kept thinking "what is so great about this?" Later in our cruise they had them (along with marshmallows) being dipped in chocolate. So I just had to find out what it was.

The Salmon mousse tasted like potted meat to me and I thought that was funny so had to know what that was as well. :D

Are you referring to the little piece of toasted bread? I thought you were asking what the the two white items were at the bottom. Just hors'douerves.

Yes, I'm referring to whatever is sitting on the bottom that the shrimp and cheeses are on top of.

All the bottoms are toasted bread.

Weirdest bread I have ever tasted. Why would they be dipping bread in chocolate? Just wondering. I know there wasn't a lot of people that were eating those. They were definitely going for the marshmallows. :D

Why do people dip potato chips in chocolate? Because they can. I am sure it is some chef's great creation. Perhaps the chocolate marshmallow thing was a different kind of bread/cracker like a graham.
