1st cruise after TA on Equinox

Hi People,

 

We are on the 1st cruise after the TA on Equinox leaving on Dec 10th.

We've been hearing of major complications due to customs etc.

 

So, if there any cruisers that were on last years 1st cruise after the TA on the Equinox, we would like to hear if there were any complications.

You can expect to have boarding delayed a bit. Everyone on board will have to go through immigration. There will probably be a health inspection as well. Don't get there too early.

You may also experience some delay at tender ports or X excursions involving vessels while they are inspected by the ships safety department.

There will be delays in boarding as the ship has to go through every inspection they have not done since they left for Europe. Its not just EQ, it's every ship returning from Europe.

 

Health inspection, CDC, Coast Guard, Immigration for all their employees as well as guest. Much more extensive when returning from overseas. We like to get to the port early and wait. At least you have a seat and are prepared.

We were on the first Equinox cruise after the TA last December. Boarding began around 12:30 which was earlier than they had originally announced. Fortunately we were leaving out of the new terminal designed for the Allure/Oasis so there was plenty of seating. They boarded suites, then aqua class, then concierge class and then everyone else by when they arrived.

Just want to say thanks for your quick response. We are elite members due to being diamond on RCCL. Where does that put us in the embarkation pecking order?

You get to stand in line with all the other elites or your cabin class. After checking in, you sit with the unwashed waiting to board. If there is delayed boarding they board by category, not by captains club level.

Bummer - I was hoping for early boarding and a lunch at 'lunchtime' - not as an appetizer before dinner.

We were on the Equinox last year immediately following her TA and decided to eat lunch ashore, get on the Cambria Suites shuttle to port @ 1:30 and arrived to a virtually empty check-in area. Piece of cake!
