Boiler Cruiser Posted November 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2012 Anyone have comments, suggestions or advice about boarding a cruise in San Francisco? Interested in warts and all...including any hints based on experience. We will be going to Alaska from there next summer. Thanks.
CruiserBruce Posted November 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2012 As no one has answered, I would suggest reading down the board. There are threads on transport to the pier, hotels to stay in, and many other issues.
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2012 Be sure to arrive a day or more before the cruise. I would read a guidebook on things to do in the city. There is much to do that you can easily see on your own. If you are flying home the day of disembarkation do not book a flight anytime before Noon and I would aim for around 1:00 PM. Kartgv Posted November 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2012 Is there something specific you're concerned about? We've done a Princess Alaska cruise out of SF and it's a spectacular sail-away, going under the bridge. We also did a Celebrity Century cruise with an overnight in the city, so did 'on and off' the ship several times during that time with no issues or problems. There are plenty of transportation and lodging options, as well as sightseeing opportunities before or after your cruise. Keith's comments on arriving at least a day early and not booking your return flight too early are probably the most important things to know. Let us know if you have specific questions.
