Allure Comedy Club questions

Hi there,

Planning our trip for Spring 2013 on Allure and I am wondering if someone who has sailed recently can comment about the MANY comedy club shows that are available to book before hand.

Are some of them kid friendly and some adult only? Are they different performers on different nights or the same act every day of the week?

Is it hard to get in as a same day show up?

Thanks! Katherine

Just back from the Allure. As I remember, all Comedy Club shows were the same and NOT suitable for children. We really enjoyed it! We booked ahead of time on-line. I did notice that it was the only show I saw that the "daily" mentioned as being completely booked one of the nights. The venue is small. If I am wrong on any of this, I hope someone will correct me.

The comedy shows are almost every evening and are the same. The venue is small and if you want to go it is advisable to book ahead. We are sailing in May. I printed the "shows at a glance", and we picked the shows and times for each day. We have covered it all and I am just waiting for the reservations to open. I think we even have a day without any shows. :)

You have to be at least 18 to see the comedy show. It's the same show every night.

They just pick on different people and ad lib a bit. I loved the one last week where he asked if anyone was a nurse. One lady was an EKG specialist. Then he asked what do they call that fancy machine with all the readouts? Her reply ".....the machine".

Thanks for the replies. So we just need to pick 1 show during the week it seems? Bummer. On our recent Carnival Splendor cruise, they had 19 Comedy shows in a pretty big venue and it was about 6-8 different shows with 2-3 comedians performing (alternating shows). It was so much fun to go after dinner or late at night as a last thing to do before bed.

Also, there are so many other shows to see besides the comedy show. You can choose early or late shows. Quest, you will want to see and will not be listed on shows at a glance. It is late. If you go into your reservation, to the link "before you board",

there will be another link to "showtimes at a glance" They only list thru Jan, I think, but the times will still be the same. Just look at a Western showtimes or Eastern, which ever you are sailing. :)

There may be a family friendly show at the end of the week in Studio B ... just watch the Compass. Generally there will be 2-3 shows a night, though, for the adult version. Keep in mind that if you don't have reservations, you have to wait in stand-by and, because of how small of a room it is, very few people are allowed in.

Just back from Allure this morning and agree 100%. The F-bomb was thrown around quite a few times as well as racial, social, and ethnic jokes.

Not for kids at all.

This was the comedy show in Comedy Live, it's the same show the entire cruise and booked fully with lines for standby. It is a small venue that seats around 100 people?

We are also just off the Allure this morning. We only booked this cruise 8weeks prior to sailing and at that time, online, there were no tickets available for any comedy show.

We really enjoy the comedy shows, so stood in the standby line 3 nights trying to get in. The first two nights we got in line about 15-20 minutes prior to the show and they cut off both times with 4 people in front of us. The third night we got inline 30 minutes prior and got in.

The last night there is an all ages show.

Anyone know if it's the same exact show on the Eastern and Western sailings? We are sailing B2B so unsure if I should book one for each week or just see it once in the total of our 14 days.

Thanks! Katherine

  • 2 weeks later...

We did a b2b on the Allure (Dec. 2 & Dec 9) and each sailing had different comedians. Make sure to have reservations made in advance, we went to the consecutive cruisers meeting and they said that they could make advance reservations for us and our sheet got lost so we didn't have a reservation for the second sailing for the comedy club and it was really difficult to get in...we waited in the standby line and got in but we we not able to sit together. Enjoy your cruises.

15 times during your cruise.

All the same except for improv and ad libbing.

Lately one of them (2 perform for the show) always does a "family friendly" version of his show in the main theatre on the final night of the cruise. Frankly, I didn't think that he cleaned up his act much at all. I didn't have kids with me, but if I had, I would have been angry that it had been promoted as "clean" and "family friendly."

We'll chat about "all things Allure" next week. :D :D :D
