Cozumel on our own?

We aren't impressed with the ship tours and are not into snorkeling or spending all day at a beach? Is Cozumel a good port for wandering on our own? We know the locals can be "pushy" at times but we can deal with that. Just wondering what there is to see and do around the port or nearby?

Not much! :( It is easy and cheap to take a taxi to "downtown" where you will find lots of shops selling tourist stuff - t-shirts, hats, booze, silver jewelry, etc. There's no big catherdral or other historic site to walk to -- Coz is an island so most of the tours and sites focus on the water and the beaches.

If nothing appeals to you this might be a good opportunity to stay on the ship and maybe book some time in the spa?

Good luck! :)
