tiffany123 Posted December 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2012 We aren't impressed with the ship tours and are not into snorkeling or spending all day at a beach? Is Cozumel a good port for wandering on our own? We know the locals can be "pushy" at times but we can deal with that. Just wondering what there is to see and do around the port or nearby? JohninDC Posted December 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Not much! :( It is easy and cheap to take a taxi to "downtown" where you will find lots of shops selling tourist stuff - t-shirts, hats, booze, silver jewelry, etc. There's no big catherdral or other historic site to walk to -- Coz is an island so most of the tours and sites focus on the water and the beaches. If nothing appeals to you this might be a good opportunity to stay on the ship and maybe book some time in the spa? Good luck! :)
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2012 The town itself is fine and there are many shops and places to eat and drink. You can arrange a tour with local tour guides after you disembark the ship. Keith
nascarcruiser Posted December 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Spent 2 weeks in January just wandering around and plan to do it again in January 2013. Never felt unsafe as my bf went diving and I did what I wanted
