suzannebander Posted January 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2013 my first cruise, so i'm curious if there will be a hard sell if i attend a seminar at the spa or fitness area, or free liquor tasting at trade routes? ;) thanks! sdmike Posted January 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2013 Not too bad. During spa services they will usually try to sell you products, but several ask in advance that they don't do that...and they seem to abide by the request. If you take a tour of the gym they will tell you about their classes and programs, but not a hard sell. If you're just working out nobody bothers you. The liquor tasting is expressly for selling booze. You will get little cups, and they will have everything you try "on special" and try to get you to buy it. It's not a "hard sell". It's a person on a microphone describing the booze and yelling "isn't that awesome" as people get more and more drunk, and more and more willing to hand over their cruise card. :)
jasbo49 Posted January 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 5, 2013 We've only cruised NCL once, but my recollection was that the spa tour we took at the beginning was nothing but a sales pitch. My wife had a treatment and, having told the gal right up front that she wasn't buying any extras, was not subjected to any pressure. The liquor tastings have never been a problem. Always a guy with several different liquors and little tiny plastic cups. Willing to pour you any of the liquors. Never have had a hard sell.
