ging466 Posted February 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2013 Since these voyages are heavily booked, I thought I'd start a roll call even though we have over 1 year to go. This will be a fascinating voyage however one question I have is that Cote d'Ivoire is being shown on the Aussie Foreign Affairs website as a country where you should "reconsider your need to travel"....in other words, don't go there. Any comments as to how SS will handle a shore excursion in this place, i.e. armed guards/police escort? Maybe SS will give each passenger their own firearm:D (joking everyone!) If u are booked on these voyages, pls register on this roll call. It will be an exciting trip! Cheers Jennifer P.S. I put this post in our regular forum so that people will see it. I expect it to be moved to the roll call forum at some stage;)
CruisinPashmina Posted February 9, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2013 We are booked on these B2B cruises, and another couple, our SS traveling pals are joining us. This is an amazing itinerary. Bet the ship will be full of adventurous people..new friends! As to questionable ports: SS definitely will by pass them if they are deemed unsafe. The Cote D'Ivoire has been put on the US travel warning list, so I think it unlikely that we will put in there. And there may be other adjustments...gotta go with the flow, especially on a trip like this!
Paulchili Posted February 9, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2013 We too are booked on this amazing B2B itinerary and are very much looking forward to it. I hope that the political situation will improve/stabilze and that the itinerary will stay as is - fingers and toes crossed:D Paul

MrMojoRisin Posted February 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2013 Does Silversea host a CC get together at the start of a cruise (as on Azamara) ?
Rare WesW Posted February 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 14, 2013 MrMoJoRisin, pls note below, am sure Silversea & CC will have instituted formal meet & greet procedures (ala Azamara, Crystal, RCCL, Celebrity) well before your voygage. Sent: Friday, February 8, 2013 7:54:00 AM Subject: Meet and Mingle follow up Hi Wes, After reviewing with all the hotel managers from all of the ships since they need to ensure we can manage this the right way I have recommended that we move forward. Here is what I proposed: - Min guest per voyage for planned meet-in- greet would be 6 - Onboard event would be arranged by cruise consultant and be cocktails in one of the lounges. - One of my manager will follow up with Cruise Critic next week to move this along. Thank you for your patience – it has been an incredibly hectic few months. I appreciate that you brought us this idea and with only 10 months under my belt I still have a lot to learn and anxious for feedback and more ideas. Warmest regards, Ellen
ging466 Posted February 22, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted February 22, 2013 Did anyone hear about the French family that was kidnapped this week by terrorists in Cameroon and taken across the border into Nigeria? Cameroon sounds like a scary place...I would expect that we will have armed guards for any excursions that we take on this voyage. Anyone care to comment? Cheers Jennifer
