B2B questions

Hi, we have never taken a B2B before but I am really thinking about it for next year. I have found a cruise that we could have the same cabin on both legs of the trip so we would not have to switch. I have a few questions.

How does it work?

How do you book it?

Do you have to get off the ship while the next cruise is embarking?

Do you have the same sign and sail card for the whole cruise?

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

How do you book it? A b2b is two different bookings. Tell the person taking the booking that you want to book both weeks and would like the same cabin. You will have 2 different booking numbers

Do you have to get off the ship while the next cruise is embarking? You will meet at guest services or a prearranged area and they will walk you off the ship...through customs and back on the ship and you will be given a new card.

Do you have the same sign and sail card for the whole cruise? No

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Since Carnival does not have long cruises we only book b2b's anymore. Love them!

My experience was slightly different from ready2cruzagain's. We were not escorted off the ship, but were instructed to wait until everyone got off the ship. We were then instructed to go to the VIP check-in. We went there and checked in and then waited about 30 minutes and were escorted back onto the ship before anyone else boarded.

B2B is really fun--the crew welcomes you back like you're an old friend. So many of the crew came by our table the first night to welcome us back the people next to us asked us how we knew so many people. LOL.

When we returned to our cabin that first day of the second leg, there was a bottle of champagne from Guest Services and another bottle and a plate of chocolate-covered strawberries from the Hotel Director. :D

Looks like your questions have been answered. I just wanted to add that my wife and I are sailing 4/5 on our first back to back and are so looking forward to it. The two trips only total seven days, but many of our cruises have been three and four day trips; we're really looking forward to not having to get off after the first leg!

To add to the fun this will be our first sailing as Platinum.

Have fun!

We just did our 2nd B2B in January and have already booked a B2B (14 days total) for next January.

I took our bottle of champagne to the MDR hostess and she exchanged it for a bottle of white wine which I kept in the MDR. Our waitress brought it out every night till I finished it. My SO does not drink so the champagne would have gone flat before I finished it. We had a 2-top so I didn't have tablemates to share it with.

I still have the champagne in the basement fridge that I received on our 2008 B2B!! Guess I should pitch it.

I just learned the other day (here on CC of course!) that you can do that. I wish I'd know then. I didn't open either bottle and would much rather have had wine. I'll know for next time. :D

On my b2b, they did escort us off and through customs (no bags or anything, just paperwork) and then processed us right back on. We were the first people in that line, so when we got back on we were the only passengers on the ship. This is a good time to take any pictures you want without hundreds of people in the shot.

If you buy any liquor from the duty free the first week, they will deliver it on the last night of the first leg, and you will have it for the second leg.

We requested the same table staff as the first week, and that was very nice. We did have to move four doors down from one week to the next, but that was due to a couple of calls from the upgrade fairy. Had the same room steward though and he moved our bags for us while we were doing the paperwork.

Thank you for all of your responses, I have found the trip I would like to take. Its next Feb on the Freedom, first leg is 8 days the second is 6 days. Now I just have to convince the hubby that 14 days on a cruise is exactly what we need! lol

We have never had to go to the VIP section for a b2b. We were given our new sign and sail cards, always escorted off ship ,gone down gang way and had customs meet us, they looked at our customs slip and passports and then we were sent back up to the place that takes your card at the beginning of the ship.

Interesting, I didnt know you could exchange! We usually take ours up on the Lido deck and use it to make mimosas with our breakfest. :D
