Transatlantic Aft.

Recommended Posts

Looking for some advice as we try to pick a room for transatlantic crossing in November 2014. It will either be on Independence or Liberty. I know that the seas may be rough, or may be perfectly fine having read other reviews. . . We have never had an aft cabin before, just mid ship and a hump balcony on freedom in January.

Question is: do you tend to feel movement more in the aft cabins even when the seas are calm? If so, we were thinking we shouldn't get an aft incase the seas are rough..... But I'm sure the view is fabulous in an aft??

Thanks in advance for any advise you can give :)

We had a corner aft on an eastbound TA in April; 2012 and we have the same corner aft booked on a westbound TA in November 2013. We have had numerous aft cabins and have not felt any additional vibrations. This may be due to the Azipod system rather than a propeller. The views are fantastic.

We have sailed Aft on several ships. We had corner Aft on Serenade and got too much sun because balcony was not covered. It made the room a bit hot because the AC could not keep up. This was a spring TA. We also had a vibration issue a few days when the ship was really moving. On the Adventure we had a center aft MS and had no problems with sun or noise. The best balcony was corner aft on the Mariner but we did have vibration with it. DH had to take the plastic light cover down to stop the rattle one night and we found all kinds of old compasses stuffed in the edges as of the wall. We are a little noise sensitive and most rooms "squeek" in our opinion. If it is really an issue we call and they send a crew to tighten the panels which helps. You will notice that we still love the afts. Nothing like a full moon reflecting on the wake water.

. . . for a transatlantic we prefer a mid ship port side balcony. On nice days you get the sun from sunrise to sunset. An aft will get the sunrise but miss the beautiful sunsets. . .

Probably should be obvious since OP is talking about a westbound TA, but thought it wouldn't hurt to point out your scenario applies to westbound TAs -- our eastbound was the opposite.
