Thank you so much for this review. While we will not be on this ship, we are on the Paradise. Your review and pics of Grand Cayman convinced my 11 year old dd to do Stingray City! She was freaked out when I tried to explain it to her, but your pics got her hooked. :D I also showed her the picture of Paradise, and she looked at me and said, " I thought you said we were going on a small ship!" :D

Your review is FANTASTIC!!!! One of the best ones I have read. Our family of 12 are going on the Freedom August 10 witch is DS, DDIL, DGC, DD. her guy, DGD. It was our Christmas gift to all of them,started out with inside cabins but with the great sale last week we were able to get balconies on the Panorama deck.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who took pics of everything we ate, in fact on our cruises my DH usually will tell everyone at our table to be prepared for my picture taking!!

Although we aren't doing the same itinerary Your description of all you saw and did was very informative. The ship photos are wonderful!!!

Regarding the food porn, toward the end of the cruise, they finally just started holding up their plates for me before they dug in! Thanks for reading!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for reading my review! As I've said before ... I was very nervous to "put it out there" for public consumption. I am humbled by all your comments.

 

We had a great time, and if you chose Carnival Freedom in the future, I'm certain you will have a great time too! My DM is a loyal Royal Caribbean cruiser, although she's been on two Carnival cruises and one Princess cruise with us, and she thoroughly enjoyed it also.

Thanks for the review-just like a good book, I couldn't stop until I got to the end. I took notes for our upcoming journey. 207 days until we leave! Sailing on Freedom in October with group of 8 adults, 8 days, Southern Caribbean. Sailed on the Glory 5 years ago, two regrets. 1-Not taking better pics of the food!!! Your pics were wonderful. 2-Not going down the water slide! There's a pic of me standing at the bottom looking up & thinking about it. Now, I know for sure, I will try it!

You must have carried a notebook with you at all times or else you have a great memory with details It brought back so many great memories for me. I've been to those islands a few times and they are some of my favorites. I am going on the Freedom in October with 7 friends. We are doing the 8 day Southern itinerary. This will be my 12th cruise, 10 with Carnival, 2 with other lines. I just can't wait. It's been 5 years since my last one. Way too long between cruises. Thanks again for sharing this. Hey cabcruises (again!) ... thanks for finishing it! I actually did not carry a notebook with me to write things down ... I let my photos tell the story! (I took three cameras with me ... my nice Canon [read: large, 2 lenses, etc.], a smaller pocket-sized Sony, and my iPhone, so I always had a camera with me. I did have a 'cruise binder' with all my stuff (aka "research") in it and that's where I stored the FunTimes, etc. When I got home, I reviewed all the pictures and the FunTimes and wrote the review (I think it was 24 pages typed in Word, single spaced! :eek: ) Unfortunately, I let it sit for wayyyyy tooooo long ... hence the "better late than never, here it is for what it's worth" title!

 

Have a great time on your cruise in October! What a great thing to do with your friends! (need another friend??? :D ) I agree five years is too long between cruises! We cruised before kids ... and then we waited and waited and waited ... and now, we've all got the cruise bug! My boys have been on two cruises and they love it! We just booked another cruise for next year. WE ARE SO EXCITED ALREADY!!!! :p

Michelle, Can never have too many friends, so yes, you can be my friend and we would love to have you join us in October. :) You had another post a few before mine from a kat55cruises, she's one of my friends that I'm going on the cruise with. Myself, her and another gal that is going have been friends since we were freshman in high school, some 35 or so years ago.

 

You mentioned that you shouldn't have waited so long to post your review, but it's still great to read it and now you can relive it again. I love looking back at my pictures from my last cruise and now planning this one in October is so exciting. I think the planning is almost as much fun as taking the cruise and then reliving it over and over from pictures is great, because that week on the ship goes so darn fast. So, have fun planning your next cruise and can't wait to read that review. Take care. :D

Thank you cruiseclues! Shhhhh don't tell the Royal Caribbean folks, but we actually enjoyed our Freedom cruise over the Allure of the Seas. Beautiful ship ... Unfriendly staff. For the price we paid, I want a beautiful ship AND service. The food in the MDR was better on The Freedom also.
