montyone Posted June 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2005 Has anyone eaten at the cafe here? I've not found much info on this place. Would appreciate any reviews!!!
cruzluvr2 Posted June 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I ate at Caribou Crossing on our tour to the Yukon. We were pleasantly surprised by the meal. We had barbeque chicken, baked potato, (I think) slaw, and rolls. They also had doughnuts. Tea was included; you had to pay extra for soft drinks. smellywax Posted June 16, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2005 we weren't on a tour...we had a rental car and stopped here to see the dogs so we went to eat and they only sell the bbq chicken to those on their own if they have extra from the tours...they did for us at $10/person which for us didn't include a drink. It wasn't worth it. I would suggest making a sandwhich on the ship and packing it.
Rare Coral Posted June 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2005 Here are some pics when I stopped there on a tour: lunch I would probably recommend you stop at Cinnamon Cache for lunch.
tigercruiser Posted June 16, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2005 we were there last week. I have to agree that the meal wasn't worth it. In fact, it was barely edible.
smellywax Posted June 18, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2005 cinnamon cache wasn't any better for us the previous year...so I suggest eating a big breakfast and pack a snack ;)
TNTLAMB Posted June 18, 2005 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2005 The donuts were homemade, hot, fresh, and delicious. The main problem we had at Caribou crossing was that the folks running it seemed to think we weren't being fed on the cruise ship. Granted quality can vary greatly in this type of setting but what we had was great. If they charged $10.00 a head to independents, it is by Alaska standards a bargain. I've seen grilled cheese for that much.
suziqz007 Posted June 19, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2005 From our experience, I agree wholeheartedly with taking your own lunch.
