Dr H Posted April 1, 2013 #26 Share Posted April 1, 2013 "Do sweetbreads ever show up on the menu?" Never seen 'em. Hope I never do. That said, I suspect that if you speak to the Maitre 'D in either of the specialty restaurants very early on, they will seek out the bovine thymus glands you so eagerly wish to devour, and prepare them flawlessly. NC&KY Posted April 2, 2013 #27 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Thanks. And I'm a cheap date. I'll be quite happy with the French chardonnay or the riesling.:o
zennor Posted April 4, 2013 #28 Share Posted April 4, 2013 Our breakfast tip: being British we miss having no tea-making facilities in the Cabin especially first thing, so we ordered room service tea & Orange juice for 7am & then went on to breakfast... Our cruise was port intensive so we had few lunches. On embarkation day - board as early as you can, enjoy the buffet lunch, dump your bags & then go out for a little sightseeing before getting back on when you have to. We ate lunch twice on the pool deck - lovely grilled tuna - but it was very busy on our one sea day - much better on a port day. Dinner we ate in the MDR - the light options were always very good. The BBQ on the White Night was a bit disappointing & you need to arrive very early to bag a table!
azevedan Posted April 5, 2013 #29 Share Posted April 5, 2013 ...was breakfast on our veranda every morning. Arrived piping hot (you can get hot room service breakfasts in any cabin category, unlike some of A's competitors) watching the ship come into port. Tranquil way to start the day.
